And she wasn't before? :-)
Anyway, I know you haven't really had a chance to play IWD2 yet ... but I did that very conversion in my "bring bg2 items to iwd2" mod and Ages is not the most powerful item by any stretch. Apparently in 3e elemental damage is just easier to come by. Still, compare some of these IWD2 items:
Stunning Star of Speed: +5 enchantment, +2 attacks per round, 50% of stunning target (fort save).
Greataxe of Elemental Burst: +5 ench, +1d6 cold, 10% of +1d10 cold, +1d6 fire, 10% +1d10 fire, +1d6 elec, 10% +1d10 elec.
Club of Freezing Flames: +5 ench, +5/+5, 2d6 fire, 10% of +1d10 fire, 2d6 cold, 10% of +1d10 cold.
Why do all of the weapons look this mysterious? No idea, I'm no 3e guru. All IWD2 weapons seem to be either "the masterwork weapon of ultimate nothingness" or "the uber-god artifact that looks like it should slay the world but in fact is not all that great".
