I had emailed this to Wes, but I thought it would be a good idea to post it here, so that others can comment on it if they have opinions on the subject.

I realize that the combat in this mod will be dramatically different from what we're used to in BG2, especially near the end (if the mod takes in ToB) as everyone has IWD2 collections of feats, skills and spells instead of ToB high level abilities.  I realize that lots of tactics (especially "cheesy" ones) will not work anymore, and I'm okay with that.  But I have one request:

Please don't damage immersion for the sake of harder combat, at least not in the only possible version.  If the enemies dodge out of cloudkills, that's fine and good.  If I can't move through a door when there's an enemy on the screen, that would be very bad.  I feel that, if the engine prevents enemies from dealing effectively with a particular tactic, it's better to simply say that players who want tough fights will choose not to have their characters use that tactic than to prevent the characters from doing things that they should be able to do, even if enemies can't be programmed to react with equal realism to the tactics in question.  If you feel that it's desirable to render certain actions off-limits to the player...then please make that an optional component of the mod.

I agree with Kish here.  (But here I am violating one of the cardinal rules of testing already. ;) )

Will download when I come home from work tonight.
