Hello everyone,

While in the Underdark, Valen succumbed to effects of a Gauth's paralyzation ray and was "held" for quite a while. I thought she was supposed to be immune to hold type of effects, especially paralyzation. Is this so? Or does it refer to some other type of "hold" attack. Thanks for any clarification. :)

now that you mention it, i've seen valen held in the fight with aran linvail, by the summoned demon.

heh...my feelings, as he was slicing her up, were she's supposed to be immune to hold. So i cntrl-y'd the piece of crap demon.

did want to find out if this was a bug though.

Adamantium Golems are supposed to be immune to every magic spell, yet you can stun them with CF or slow them with FotA. *shrug*

Yeah, i've also noticed Valen being held by Demons and Beholders-kin.

These effects probably use a different "opcode" whom Valen isn't immune to.

Save us, Wes. :-)

Being undead, she should by definition be immune to sheep, charm, and hold effects unless the spell in specifically designed to affect undead. ex: Hold Undead

I think you are seeing Valen get "stunned" (cf. Celestial Fury). Almost nothing is immune to Stun. However, I could verify this: can anyone give the name (and area?) of a monster that can "hold" Valen?

For me, I can only repeat that it was by a Gauth in the Underdark lair. It used a Paralyzation ray and she was definitely "held"(At least that is the icon that covered her portrait and the indication on the character record page).

Wes, I could try and could dig up a save game of when I went through this area, if you want it. Now where is that save game...

I guess that is an alternative spell to summon cow, doing slightly less damage than the cow spell. :P

It happened to me when doing the Aran Linvail battle. . .one of the characters in the room casts Gate (at least, I'm pretty sure it was gate. . .might have been a similar demon summoning spell) and that monster was able to "hold" valen.

I informed Weimer about Valen getting HELD a long time ago.

For me it happened when you face The Master of Thralls while rescuing H'D from the planer prison.

                   Aran Linvail casts Cacodemon.

i think death gaze, a ability many tanari and demons have is a stun effect....

so far i have noted only stun immunity or free action or ring protects for that....

and undead are not immune to stun, right???

Some Undead are. Valen, apparently, is not.
