suggestion about ascending Sarevok
« on: October 20, 2002, 10:25:25 AM »
I tought to this:
Why not add some line to the alignment changing dialogs Sarevok has and have the pc prompt Sarevk to follow him (in opposite to stressing the fact Sarevok is free to do what he likes when you want him to change alignment) until Sarevok becomes so lawful to the pc he can become a paladin, except the god is the Baalchild. Sarevok would then drain energy from the Baal incence trought the PC like a regular paladin doe trough his god.
Sarevok would  cang from fighter to antipaladin kit and get special Bhaal abilities: like hand of murder, or an innate  version of mage spell, level drain,  or a version of quivering palm with save versus death at -2, like the vorpal sword has.
What do you think of this idea?

I think Sarevok needs you to become a god, in order for him to become a paladin. :-)

How can he become a paladin of a mortal? :-)

Because he would drain energy trough the Bhaal incence, like he did when he was alive, except now he would do it indirectly trough the PC's powers.

I think Sarevok would be better as a sort of paladin rather than a fighter, and Wes's antipaladin is, for me, the perfect class Sarevok should be.

IMHO, Sarevok's story alone should be a reason to keep him a pure fighter... I dont think he needs to go through any class or kit changes throughout the game... hell, he shouldn't even be Dual-Classable.

Klaussner , that isn't a bad idea at all.

But won't he be an evil paladin ??
So this means that your head character had to be a mean mother focker himself , with this I mean that a good protagonist can't have him become a Paladin and is stuck with some crumy fighter  , so where is the redemption of sarevok then ?

I Like this Idea. but it would have to be an ending in the right place
i.e PC ascends to Godhood and is Chaotic
Evil. Sarevok has no alignment change.
Then Sarevoks Epilogue would be a bit like this (only better)

With the rise of CHARANAME to the parethon of the Gods, Sarevok realised that there was only one path left to him... the path of murder. Having pledged to serve CHARANAME in the (damn forgot name of the place) Sarevok realisd that it was better to rule in hell then serve in heaven.
Calling himself the deathbringer, Sarevok became the foremost Paladin of Murder, He created an army and swept North towards Baldurs Gate leaving cities trampled in its wake. The blood of innocents feeding the earth and feeding the twisted demands of CHARNAME
Cloaked in his old armour and wielding his legendary sword Sarevok cut a swath through the land, eventually capturing Baldurs Gate and calling himself 'the emperor of the north'
His short reign is even now given as an example of evil and cruelty.
slavery, depravity and hunger were rife.
However the reign was short CHARNAME realising that he now had a potential rival, unleased his wrath and Saravok was poisoned, his body wasting away much like his soul during his time as CHARNAMES servant.

Well that was a brief go can anyone else come up with any better alternative endings the challenge has been issued!!
