So who thinks this is getting a little old?
« on: April 28, 2004, 04:52:26 PM »
What I mean is.. well... do you think BG2 is getting a little old? Ok, I was obsessed about this game up until the end of January, when i got my new comp, and well.. my liking for BG, and its respective sequels, when downhill. The reason was that my new comp opened up soo many doors (modding, image editing, actual programmin.. etc..). One new thing is the very artistic form of modding that comes with Warcraft 3, like making cinematics, and skins. So, i didnt want to make it a poll, cause discharger ruined all the polls for us... But who thinks is time to shelve Bg2 and put in in a glass casing thats air tight?

Just say Yes or No, plus your reason... Thank you for ur co-operation

And remember, were not the only game with mod forums.

Ok, maybe the link will work soon...

It seems a tidge pointless to post this here, no?  A person who thought it was time to shelve BG2 wouldn't be here to read it.

Does this mean BFtGotG is canceled?

How long have you been modding?  Compare that to how long FWP and TeamBG etc have been running...

I have here *draws forth scroll* a signed declaration from the king of... something.  I quote:  "He who hast spoken against BGII shall be deemed no longer a person as as such shall recieve any abuse that said nonperson's former peers deem adequate punishment for him.  After three days of punishment at the hnds of his peer, this nonperson shall be taken in by the castle guard and beaten to death with a halibut."

Yes, I think it is getting old, but that doesn't mean you have to shelve anything. With this whole lotta moddin' going on this might end up being cherished by my kids (erm maybe not). After I tried and ditched Lionheart I must say that nothing furthers a plot or a character development like a lot of NPC interaction. BG2 is certainly outstanding in this category. A well established community is also a guarantee that advice and additions will not dry up so quickly. If you don't want to finish BFTGOG, just say your HD crashed and live happily ever after.

BG getting old? You should be drawn and quartered for that blasphemous statement. While we (modders) exist it will never get old and die.

BG and BGII were great games then, they are great games now, and will be even better games in the future which answers the question that this is not getting old by a long shot.  Newer games may have better graphics, cinematics, and may even be easier to customize but you can't replace the quality that the BG series brings. It's understandable if people have different game preferences and choose to play different games with the precious time that they have, but IMHO BG and BGIII wil live on forever. :)

It's comparatively old. So are Hamlet and Casablanca. What's your point?

Nah.. i wasnt sayin i was leaving... (yes yes, no breaking out the wine yet  :-X..) I will hang around and do some small things for the mod, and give ideas to Pex and whoever wishes to work on BftGotG, but in the meantime, ill just jam on my guitare.

Im not sayin that this isnt a great game, im saying that... well.. its time to explore new modding areas. You see my avatar? Well, in my adobe photoshop, that unit in Warcraft 3, (called an Infernal) was turned into a pinnk fluffy thing with a pumpkin for a head... The joke team at blizzard actually sent me an email saying how funny it was and that they would also kill me...

I guess Hamlet like all the coworkers ingame and the PC are all in their early twenties. It is a sad fact that UB as in Unfinished Business has gone the way of the dodo, but UB as in Unsolicited Bug-announcements still thrives. :D

Well, I cannot play BG2 any more. The thing is, I was not that "sucked" into it from the very start.  BG1, however, never bores me. Even when I test the same sequence over and over and over... I look forward to playing it beginning to end another couple of times at the least before shelving. :) I plan to switch to NWN in the fall of 2004, or earlier, depending on how much work will have to be done for BG1NPC.
