BG currency: "gold coins" are also known as "crowns"?
« on: April 12, 2022, 05:19:50 AM »
Hello!

Examining the different lines in BG2's dialog.tlk, I have found 5 instances where the gold coins used in the game are referred to as "gold crowns". Strings #40451, #40557, #40559, #42060, #42071.

Does someone have any idea whether or not this is correct?

The fact that the word "crowns" is used only five times in the whole game as currency makes me dubious.

Cheers!

Any chance 4 of those are copy/paste mistakes?  ;D

Perhaps the moneylender is from the Windrise Ports? They use "crown" as the name for their gold pieces: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Currency#Windrise_Ports

It may be so, hook71.

I sincerely have no idea...
