I'm not really sure what caused this. I'm using Xan NPC mod, along with a few others (Ashes of Embers, DBG, banterpack). The whole game was running smoothly, until I got into Hell. I would defeat Irenicus, but then be stuck at the cutscene (he wouldn't die...we'd just stand there staring at eachother). Since nothing I did would fix this, I put all my saves into a folder, uninstalled BG2 and reinstalled it with all the same mods as before. Irenicus was defeated, and everything seemed to be running smoothly, until I got to the start area of TOB, where you regain your Bhaal powers. Instead of going to me, Xan got them all. I could have dealt with that, but there seems to be a further problem, with his sound effects. He still has the sounds for conversations, but he's lost his other sounds, like "We're all doomed", etc. Since I play with character sound subtitles, I also noticed that instead of his normal sounds, he would get random text from either the Jaheira romance, or from his own flirts, which was especially strange, since my own character is a male elf romanced with Jaheira.

Also in his biography, it was swapped with flirt text, which changes each time you look at his bio, though it appears to just swap between two. Other aspects of the mod don't seem to be affected, he interacts normally with other NPCs, I can still talk to him, he still casts spells, and he's still depressed.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

It means that you got your install scrambled a little; it happens with all NPC mods. To fix Xan's soundset, select him in the game and press K. (It's written in his readme, too).
