Suggestion to expand on the harper content.
« on: March 22, 2009, 03:43:16 PM »
I was wondering, if it's doable to Expand on the whole Jaheira/Harper plot.

If you're romancing the lovely J (although she *is* a whiner, like all the Bioware Originals), the conclusion to the romance is the face-of with Elminster. (Hope I didn't spoil the obvious Terminsel anagram.) :p

At any rate, you get lots of goodies if your alignment is 10 - what about adding the ability, if the player is a neutral character, of the PC becoming a harper as well?
I'm thinking taking over the Harper Compound in Athkatla, and doing various quests assigned by Elminster. Balance maintaining ones obviously :p
Plus it'd be a wicked area to use, since after the conclusion of the romance it's entirely unused.
I realize it's rather late in the game for a Stronghold, but then, who did everything before going to spellhold the first time they played through the game? I certainly didn't.. I felt there was a sense of urgency in getting to Imoen and rescuing her. In hindsight that was a slight mistake, as the game was extremly difficult back then.
Also, my limited experience with anything RPG was a contributing factor. :p

Any way.. it should be relatively simple to implement.. we're talking the usual 5-8 encounters for any stronghold, sure it won't really be adding much in the way of a steady income (why would it?), but it would certainly expand on the whole harper plot - as would appear to be the aim of the quest pack.

Maybe the 10 rep restriction is a bit harsh, although rep is easily changed with the slayer change.. but yeah.

Does anyone think this idea has merit, or am I just entertaining a silly notion?
