Clean Installs and Game Already In Progress (and probably a dumb question)

Quite possibly a dumb question and I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I wanted to double check first.

Currently my game is suffering from an issue of crashing whenever certain types of demons do anything, which is making the game... difficult to play at the least (managed to cheat my way through the Planar Sphere, but with the Planar Prison and all the other Tanar'i in the game, I'm pretty sure I need to do something about this). Thus, the logical answer to me is to put my clean install back in and repatch the game to hopefully solve whatever is up.

I wanted to check, however, that as long as I kept the save, the process wouldn't bug out the romance. Right?

It won't affect the romance, so you can go ahead.

There is always a probability an old save may be screwed; it never happened to me, though.
