Uhm.. I just installed EasyTutu, but I'd rather like the spell fixes of this beta thingy. So I was wondering... How do I install this? Do I need to kill the EasyTutu install? Do I install the beta on top of it?

Yes, you'll need to uninstall the current one, then reinstall using the beta.  Then start a new game.

Please do report back if/when you've completed the game.

D'oh!

Quick fix: go to your EasyTutu override folder, make a copy of _spidgi.cre and name it spidgi.cre (i.e., exactly the same, sans underscore).

I'll make sure to fix this for the final release.  Good catch, and thanks for taking the time to report it!

I just looked at your Easytutu web page & noticed there will be a new version soon, the expected date is 1 Apr 08.

Well, I guess I know that I've taken too long with a release when someone's first reaction upon reading it is to assume I must be joking.  ::)

The release date is conservative, as I need time to tie up loose ends and get my playthrough done.  I'd actually really like to have it out sooner.

There is some bug with dopplegangers, they don't properly transform, just keep looping the effect but nothing happens. As far as I can tell, this affects all dopplegangers I've seen so far.

Also with the Merchant league quest in Baldur's Gate once I've brought the evidence to the captain of guard or whatever his name was (the three letters) and get back to floor 1 there is infinte amount of dopplegangers pouring in.

I was just coming here to report this very thing, though I did manage to get through the army of dopplegangers in the Merchant League in my game was large, but finite. The thing with most of the dopplegangers who didn't transform is that they never turned hostile. Except for Shistal in Candlekeep. He turned hostile, but never transformed, and my reputation dropped 10 points for killing him, even though he was attacking my party.

That's not a bug, that's a feature!

OK.  I'll investigate tonight.  I'm sure the DG ForceSpell is another victim of my mass conversion to BG2 spells.

I'll post a workaround when I have it.

Seven Suns doppelganger bug fixed locally.

Workaround: copy _doppss.cre into filename doppss.cre in EasyTutu override.

Will report on other doppelgangers later.

The rest of the doppelganger transformations have been fixed locally.

Workarounds:

Copy the following files into the specified filenames in your EasyTutu override:

_GDOPP7.CRE -> GDOPP7.CRE
_GDOPP71.CRE -> GDOPP71.CRE
_GDOPP72.CRE -> GDOPP72.CRE
_GDOPP73.CRE -> GDOPP73.CRE
_GDOPP74.CRE -> GDOPP74.CRE
_GDOPP75.CRE -> GDOPP75.CRE
_DOPPLE.CRE -> DOPPLE.CRE
_DOPPGR.CRE -> DOPPGR.CRE
_DOPZORL.CRE -> DOPZORL.CRE

There are a number of other actor transformations that are similarly messed up, particularly in the expansion areas.  I think I've got all of them.

It's done by a spell and damages in BG2 but not BG1. Some version of Tutufix resolves this if you can't find the SPL easily.

Ok, I didn't know that.

IMO Macready has to remove that part (if possible) as it is fatal for a 8 hp char to get the Hammer of Thor crushing down.

Ouch, 50 damage.  Fixed locally.  For a quick fix, you can use NI to edit SPWI938.SPL such that the damage effect does zero damage instead of 50.
