Ah, but it could be worse. You could get an Official Warning!

(S.w.t.R.P? Is it like A.N. Onim?)

What about references to (and subsequent debate about) the "father of IE modding"?  For the record, that was my favorite.

Ah, but the irony! :)

I'm torn between asking icelus whether the staffroom thread reached page 6 by now, pointing out that Studios coordinator complaining about their deleted posts is just too good for words, and actually doing some modding. But since next step in JC's list is actually locking the thread...

C'mon. I haven't deleted a single post. We've been through this before. Whatever happened years ago is ancient history. Let it go. If it matters, I was banned by BWL for my trouble, for nothing more than disagreement. Not exactly the same thing.

Yes, Sol-Ek-Sa was wiped out before the glaciers melted, and I must have imagined the Official Warning: Be Nice Or We'll Preview Your Posts I received just this July, I am sure. :) But you deleted Worgas mod, I give you that. Still, Studios accusing BWL of bans and deleting posts... well. It has this ring of poetic justice to it.

Sol-Ek-Sa and the Worgas mod are still there. They haven't been deleted. Nobody touched the Worgas thread. There was some talk about archiving the SES forum, but in the end it was made read-only. Not quite the same thing as deletion.

Do you really want to start talking about the contents of PMs? Do you really want to discuss the reasons for any warnings you might have received in your own backyard?

It is not worth arguing about this. No one wins.

Yes, they have - your average user doesn't have access to them, to the old Baldurdash forum, or to many others. Which just shows how little Studios respects their users. And, um, I'd really have liked some reasoning, but... I wasn't given any. I have no doubt it would have been a highly amusing read, though, and something tells me Cronbad must've known it, too.

Indeed. Maybe, just maybe, it dawns on Studios management one day that maybe they shouldn't delete(or hide, if you prefer this term) forums. Somehow, though, I suspect it's all in vain, so.

Wonderful. Such a good parody post, and now a parody within a parody - is anyone actually modding BG/BG2/etc., or are we all just being stupid about percieved past injustices about forum politics?

Oh, I just answered my own question, as I couldn't stop my stupid fingers typing this - apparently we really are all four year olds, busy whining about deleted posts instead of doing something creative and constructive.

Hey, where in the list is Farcture, and creation of the "Completely Open and Free Society Site of Wisdom that is Better than PPG, Way better than G3, Doesn't talk to mere mortals at SP, Never Deletes Moves or Changes Threads For Any Reason In Search Of the Truth, PWNs SHS, and Declares War On BWL In the Pursuit of Complete Domination Of The Modding World (of the Five Players Left Who Give A Rat's Ass About Learning To Mod)" (better known as www.fu.com)?

(Or is this the spot where the sub-conflict escalates into a second parody thread?  I thought all this fell with the Berlin Wall and the birth of the iPod... wait... I know - this is the spot where community farcture over BGT and the relative merits of TC get ressurected. So the only thing left is to say the forbidden word three times... Stan - ey ... Stanl - ey... )

Heh.

As for me, in between writing disgusting lies about IA, losing sleep over people downloading it, and having ggiB write Anvil, I have rewritten the tp2 grammar parser (which means that I wrote manually 1300 lines of code, heavily reviewed the compiling process, and imported/tweaked another 2000 lines of code), set up the infrastructure for an alternate resolutions mod for BG2, not counting a bunch of random stuff (including a couple of things reported by a former BWL member).
And I surely spent less time worrying about IA than Baronius spent "not defending" it  ;)

(BTW, interesting how fast an 'everybody vs. BWL' evolves in 'PPG vs. SHS' around here)  ;)

See, I knew we were in trouble when this thread started going the way of over-inclusive Drinking Games--when you list absolutely everything that might happen, it gets boring and you have to find something else to do.

Hey, where in the list is Farcture

It's a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing. It's like having a KARR item in your Knight Rider drinking game--so infrequent that there's no point cataloging it. :)

<off-topic clarification of an earlier inaccuracy>
Argh. Doublechecked some stuff, and it turns out I was wrong about SES. It *was* archived, at the request of the moderator, who was also one of the participating artists. There had been talk of making it read-only, and I thought that's what they were going to do with it. Then I got busy and took a break from reading every post, and missed the part where the SES moderator had it archived. AFAIK, Worgas is still around, unless his modder got sick of the aggro and had it taken down himself. I know I didn't move the thread. Thing is, when the point person for a forum or a thread requests that it be archived, it has to be archived. I have no wish to debate this policy, because you know what they say about the uniqueness of opinions, but I do have an obligation to correct factually inaccurate information.

The point of this is not to reopen that debate!

Worgas was available at the download centre - NPC section, and then, a few days after the debate, it's been taken down; the mod's old link is no longer active. The thread is still there, yes, but the mod isn't available.

-A "it's all a lie" thread appears on the original forum.
-Several posts are made.
-The topic gets closed.
-Someone with the Relevant Power opens the thread again to add his own remarks as last post and closes the thread again.
-Repeat the last point as appropriate.
-When it appears that interest in the original thread has waned, someone with the Relevant Power reopens the thread to post unsupported accusations against hitherto neutral parties.
-S.w.t.R.P. closes the thread.
-S.w.t.R.P. asks the subject of said attack to ignore the moralality of this rather baffling decision via PM.

(sigh) You really can't help some people.

Having posted a (later edited) query about ggiB_ehT, I fully expect to be the subject of a 17-page thread in BWL's off-topic forum by the end of the week.

Also, I apparently have no idea what's going on at Spellhold Studios.

The Man Himself.

Technically it was a couple of people, but the Man took full credit after they split.
