installing Finch fails
« on: June 27, 2007, 12:39:43 PM »
Hi, I've got a problem with that librarian...

I installed BG1+ToSC and BG2+ToB, both with latest patches, then installed "EasyTutu". As it's recommended, I performed "BG1Tutufix v17 .exe".
Tutu works perfectly, there's no problem in starting a new game in BG2-Look.

OK, so far...

At this page I've found following description how to install "FinchNPCv3.exe". (I tried the Auto-Extracting Install first, but the RAR led to the same error)

Quote
1. Double-click FinchNPCv3.exe.
2. You will be asked whether or not you wish to install Finch. Answer Yes.
3. You will be prompted to confirm the directory where you have Tutu installed. If the directory provided is incorrect, you will have to browse to the correct location for a successful install.
4. A console window (DOS window) opens up and asks you to choose a language option. 0 = English, 1 = French, 2 = Spanish. Type your number choice and enter.
5. You will be prompted whether or not you wish to install Finch again. Enter Y for Yes.
--> At point 5, I was prompted for I(nstall), N(ot install) or Q(uit).
the install-option copied and patched some files, then the following error ocurred:
Quote
ERROR locating resource for 'copy'
Resource [_NOBL2.cre] not found in KEY file:
        [./chitin.key]
Stopping installation because of error.

I'm sure I did a dumb foolish mistake, but don't know where it is. After de- and reinstalling the whole package for a couple of times, I'm tired of searching it.

What am I doing wrong?

I don't know how, but I solved the problem with a new download of the .exe-file, which now functions properly. :D

Sorry to have bothered you - and thanks for all the finch!!!    ;D

Corruption during downloading is rare, but it does happen. Glad it worked out well for you.
