Why is Ascension auto-installing these things?
« on: September 16, 2006, 04:54:49 PM »
I installed BG2+ToB and attempting to install Ascension. Some of the files--possibly Ascension too--was there already, because of a previous installation, but I had un-installed BG2+ToB. Ascension auto-updated itself to 177 after I downloaded and started installing 176.

I get a few questions I must answer in command prompt, but after that it just auto-installs a bunch of things, even though I told it to ask me about each piece. I tried to uninstall all of them also, but even so it just says "successfully installed".

What's going on?

usually, weidu does this to make sure you don't break yr install: if you re-install a mod midway thru yr install order, weidu will uninstall all mods installed after it, then reinstall the one you wanted reinstalled, then reinstall everything else. it does htis to prevent you accidentally corrupting yr dialog.tlk and ruining yr game.

in this case, altho you were installing it fresh, you hadn't deleted yr old weidu.log, and so weidu was assuming, naturally enough, that those other mods were installed - and so it 're-installed' them to keep the dialog.tlk order the same. moral of the story: if yr doing a clean install, make sure it's clean.

I deleted the log file and the installation now works as expected. Thanks, seanas.

Yeah, I learned that one the hard way, too. Now I start every installation by deleting the entire SoA folder, or Tutu, or whatever I'm reinstalling.
