hi everybody!
i know this forum isnt too active, but i hope that someone is reading ;)

i wanted to ask, if the mod is somewhat playable...
i know thats maybe a difficult question, i dont expect everything to work, i havent gone into modding but i i know a lot about coding and scripting, so i guess i could learn necessary stuff quickly.
my main question would be,
is the story playable from beginning to end (e.g. the main quests), or not?

Not especially, no.  I mean you probably could make your way through the game but there would be a lot of bugs and a lot of unbalanced creatures.  Plus you have the problem that cannot be fixed surrounding NPCs i.e. whenever an NPC joins you have to export them and re-add them to the party.

mhm....
i wouldnt mind having to export and import NPCs (or would i have to do that every time before saving  ??? ?)...
but i would lose all the npc-related quests right?
...
i could give it a try... it wont tamper with my buldergate install, only with the iwd2 install, right? (i never liked iwd2 that much anway)
then again i have to get the stuff running on freebsd (through a poor win-compatability layer), which will make everything even more unstable...
maybe i should just try one of the other mods first :)

No.  Icewind Gate II by itself doesn't work properly and the conversion process involves extremely specifc modifications to various files.  I guarantee if you try to convert BGT you'll end up with a mess.
