Hi

I just tried to find Gorge Hilldark in the temple by the unopenable door (1200:1900), but he's not there. You didn't move him did you? I know something like this got fixed in version 8, but I do have a fair number of mods so there's probably very little point in finding the culprit. I spawned him in, CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Gorje"), which worked OK.

Cheers

I have found a few erroneous text references that I believe are part of UB.  Allow me to describe what happened and what I did to help you determine what may or may not be the problem.

Toward the end of the game (late in Ch.6), I installed UB onto a officially patched SoA game.  Realizing I was squandering valuable XP, I finally installed ToB.  At first, this was a disaster as it wiped text on the SoA/ToB splash screen, etc.  I installed the ToB patch and the fixed the apparent problems.

Then I proceeded with the game, and noticed one or two text references to a Yakman when talking to Ellesime or someone else in the Elven city.  I reallyl didn't think anything of this at the time.  Later, I finished the game and restarted it with another character.

This time, I was paying closer attention and noticed a lot of erroneous text references, especially with the UB Magic Lamp quest, the little girl spoke with a fiends voice and had all kinds of nonsensicle test. .....................

At this point, I started over, reinstalled the ToB patch, then uninstalled/reinstalled the UB elements I wanted.  This time, the little girl was OK and the intended dialogue took place.  However, there were still a few erroneous text messages, four that I can think of thus far in my new game......................

1.  The Genie who needs his flask back and gives you the Sword of Chaos is named something like "put the torch there."
2.  The town crier found at the city gates and in the bridge district (elsewhere I also believe) has a yakman reference on his name scroll.
3.  The wizard Amon in the Seven Vales also has a screwed up name that's obviously intened as part of some other dialog.
4.  I don't remember exactly, but I think it was one of the assassians fighting the vampire in Irenicus' dungeon.

Thanx for this project!

Thanks for this report--your text references being muddled is because you installed the expansion and official patch after the mod. The correct order should be:

- BG2
- ToB Expansion
- Official Patch
- Mods

It's not a mod issue; the way to solve it is to reinstall in the correct order. :)

Ayce,

I also have a problem with Malaaq not displaying his correct name though in my case the "name" is different. Something is making it off somehow. I can confirm that there is no way to fix it by simply uninstalling UB 2.

I'd like to see your WeiDu.log to check for possible mods we have both installed...

I think it could be BGT related in your case, Salk--I don't see the problem here, and UB uninstallation would fix it. So it's either an install error (as likely in Ayce's case), or BGT, which you mentioned you were using.

Andyr,

soon BGT 1.05 will be out and I will a thorough check with that and report to you.

But I can't help wondering if Ayce is also using BGT? Because the error reported by him/her does seem oh so much too similar to mine...

Ok, let me try to respond to everything here..............

1.  I'm not using BGT, as I said above, I was running a patched SOA game, installed ub during ch.6, then installed TOB as an afterthought.  There were significant problems at this point, so I patched TOB which seemed to solve most of them.  After starting a new game, I round these erroneous text references, so I uninstalled UB and reinstalled the components I wanted.

2.  Salk, at the time I discovered these errors, I only had ub installed, I have since installed questpack and have not noticed further errors.  Though when opening up some of the itm and spl files in ub/minsc with IEEPro, those files were clearly accessing some erroneous text references from the dialog.tlk.

3.  Andyr, I did uninstall and reinstall ub after the TOB patch, though I haven't tried a fresh install.   I suspect, the uninstall of ub didn't remove all of the errors in dialog.tlk and a fresh install might solve these issues.

BTW, I just finished the Boo kidnapped quest.  Very cute.  Eleanya was a well thought out character as meshed in seemlessly.  I do have a couple of questions/comments................

1.  What good is the boolet spell?  Other than sending the poor little hamster in as a distraction so monsters can slaughter it?  Am I missing something, or does boolet simply summon a sacrificial hamster?  In other words, why would I prefer the boolet spell (the supposed best reward according to the readme) over the jade figurine?  Seems to me the astral dog makes a better distraction than any hamster ever could......................

2.  The readme also stated you could get a bunch of gems as a reward, I haven't found this to be so, I've tried all of the dialog options (in so far as here riddles go) at this point, and I always get either 10,000 or 20,000 XP and either the jade figurine or the boolet spell.

3.  I done both Minsc and Kalah quests from ub now, both fit in quite seemlessly in so far as the stories go, but the associated artwork (item bams & description pics) leaves something to be desired, perhaps we can find an artist to create bams more in
the Black Isle style?  A minor point, the magic lamp and jade figurine icons are adequete, but don't really mesh with the style of the rest of the item bams in the game.  Again, a minor point.

I look forward to seeing what other suprises await me in ub!

I didn't find this reported via a search, so here it goes.

some component of UB drops misc8j in the override (without the .itm extension):
Code: [Select]
setup-ub.tp2:730:COPY ~ub/items/misc8j.itm~ ~override/MISC8J~           /* Boots of the West */
Author or Co-Author: WeiDU (http://j.mp/bLtjOn) - Widescreen (http://j.mp/aKAiqG) - Generalized Biffing (http://j.mp/aVgw3U) - Refinements (http://j.mp/bLHoCc) - TB#Tweaks (http://j.mp/ba02Eg) - IWD2Tweaks (http://j.mp/98OFYY) - TB#Characters (http://j.mp/ak8J55) - Traify Tool (http://j.mp/g1Ry9A) - Some mods that I won't mention in public
Maintainer: Semi-Multi Clerics (http://j.mp/9UeIwB) - Nalia Mod (http://j.mp/dng9l0) - Nvidia Fix (http://j.mp/aRWjjg)
Code dumps: Detect custom secondary types (http://j.mp/hVzzXG) - Stutter Investigator (http://j.mp/gdtBn8)

If possible, send diffs, translations and other contributions using Git (http://j.mp/aBZFrq).

Noticed that the usable icon for Boots of Hastened Depature was screwed up. A simple fix for this would be this in the tp2 file:-

COPY_EXISTING ~boot09.itm~ ~override/boot09.itm~       /* Boots of Hastened Departure */
WRITE_ASCII 0x76 ~IBOOT09~
SAY NAME2 @97
SAY IDENTIFIED_DESC @98

instead of this:

COPY_EXISTING ~boot09.itm~ ~override/boot09.itm~       /* Boots of Hastened Departure */
WRITE_ASCII 0x76 ~CBOOT09~
SAY NAME2 @97
SAY IDENTIFIED_DESC @98

Right, I was just clarifying for Salk that I don't havr BGT on my comp.

Also, as I said, I tried uninstalling the mods, then reinstalling them after I reinstalled TOB +patch.  It didn't work.  Hence, I figure I'm just going to have to start over with a fresh install.  It's OK, sometimes it's good to start over and get the excess crap out of your system/game.  Adding/reediting custom items, etc. tends to create unwanted duplication in your overrider folder, dialog.tlk, etc.

I think it could be BGT related in your case, Salk--I don't see the problem here, and UB uninstallation would fix it. So it's either an install error (as likely in Ayce's case), or BGT, which you mentioned you were using.

Andyr,

please note that Ayce, who is not using BGT, is reporting a problem very similar to mine and uninstalling UB did not restore a functional game for neither of us. The problem would still be there and a clean installation would be the only way to get rid of it.

This means that this problem is unrelated to BGT and should be investigated because rather critical (like all bugs that remain after uninstalling its relative mod).

It must have something to do with the .tra as I hinted to you via email but I have not the skills to understand what it might be.  ;)

Salk, Ayce's problem is definitely the install order which is why reinstalling UB didn't help. :) Whatever the cause of your error, if it is not an install order issue then I don't know what it is yet, but it is not the same as Ayce's.

Oh... If Ayce's problem is certainly the install order then I really wonder what mine is.

I will make a test to see if BGT and UB2 alone would still cause this issue and then I'll let you know.

Thanks, Andyr!  ;)

The Suna Seni component will "No Valid Replies Or Links" in Spellhold if you have both Aerie and Cernd:

~386 of ub/suna/u!suna.d:
Code: [Select]
IF ~~ THEN BEGIN SunaValUD1
  SAY @205
  IF ~!InParty("Aerie")
!InParty("Cernd")~ THEN GOTO SunaValUD2
  IF ~!InParty("Aerie")
InParty("Cernd")
!StateCheck("Cernd",STATE_DEAD)~ THEN EXTERN ~CERNDJ~ 106
  IF ~!InParty("Cernd")
InParty("Aerie")
!StateCheck("Aerie",STATE_DEAD)~ THEN EXTERN ~AERIEJ~ AerieSuna
END

With the current dialog structure, to get both interjections, go to Cernd before Aerie:
Code: [Select]
IF ~~ THEN BEGIN SunaValUD1
  SAY @205
  IF ~!InParty("Aerie")
!InParty("Cernd")~ THEN GOTO SunaValUD2
  IF ~!InParty("Cernd")
InParty("Aerie")
!StateCheck("Aerie",STATE_DEAD)~ THEN EXTERN ~AERIEJ~ AerieSuna
  IF ~InParty("Cernd")
!StateCheck("Cernd",STATE_DEAD)~ THEN EXTERN ~CERNDJ~ 106
END

EDIT: also, the E_B on cerndj (at ~50ish of ub/suna/u!suna.d) should EXTERN ~AERIEJ~ AerieSuna, and not AERIEJ 134 as it currently does (which points at Saemon's dialogue).
