I didn't know that. Thats what comes from installing mods before you play for the 1st time...

Oh... OK then. No Rune... :'( :'( :-[  >:(:-[ :'( :'(

I suppose it merits its own mod then  ;D I guess I'd better get writing!

I would love to see the leaders-teleporting-away-stuff implemented. Afterwards a kid (prefereably named Zhimdinku) walks up to the party and taunts you about the staff you almost looted. *bleh*

I would rather have a script killing the party as soon as they enter the TR lair. ;)

But you better make it extra-bold in the readme and an optional component. :D

I wouldn't actually do it in UB.

I always thought Shangalar was the coolest creature in the game (I have no idea why). I'd suggest having him kill the party. :)

Just for the record - I installed a new SoA game - no patches, baldurdash etc, and Shangalars dialogue mentions Koshi "Writing down" the location of the Rune HQ - but the dialogue options leading to it are flagged "IF ~False~ THEN REPLY".

@ Andyr: I personally dislike the way being able to teleport is a blanket ability given to every NPC but never a party member. If CHARNAME is a level 20 Mage and he can't simply teleport away from any dangerous fight I fail to see why it is "silly" that Shangalar doesn't do the same.

Well, CHARNAME can teleport away provided s/he knows the spell.

Sorry i revive this topic, i came here via google looking for something and stumbled upon this nice conspiracy theory that i never even thought about.

however, the question i was looking to answer has not yet been dealt with in this thread. I dbout this is of any importance, but the note at rejieks place directs you to the guy DARCIN COLE in a riddle that involves changing the name of their master into darcin cole. However, i was never able to figure out the name of the master with the note and with the knowledge of the real name. Does anyone have a clue who their real master might be ?

Correction. The note, a good dose of intelligence, and knowledge of the master's name are all required to winkle out the name "Darcin Cole." You did not do this--instead, you read a spoiler on some website, indicating that you lack the 3rd of the three requirements and probably the 2nd as well.

It is indeed very possible to discover the name of Rejiek's immediate master in the game, but I will not tell you how. I hate spoilers and all other means whereby the player recieves benefits that he did not earn, so I will leave you to your own devices. I just prefer to tell people I won't help them, rather than joining all the others who have replied to your post with total silence.

SixOfSpades,

Ouch!  By the Nine Hells, where did that post come from?  You sound like Corvis.

While I lack perfectiion on this site, I've never insulted a guest's knowledge and intelligence at the same time.  If you're trying to restrict membership of PPG, you're going the right way about it.  He/She didn't ask for an "answer", he/she asked for a "clue" - two totally different things. I also wasn't aware that BGII had a Mensa requirement.  It's a game!!!!

Yes, I did solve it myself, ages ago (and no, I don't recall how).  After that, I just wrote it down.  Like I'm going to work it out in every game in the last four years?  Get real.  I remember solving puzzles like that years' ago, when my grandmother was alive.  They were very popular at parties a long time ago.  So I'm old.  So what?  Maybe that gave me an edge.

I think you can tell that I'm totally disappointed and disgusted by your reponse to the question.  The second paragraph you wrote would have stood alone perfectly well, the first one was unnecessary.
"Some say that our destinies may be read in the stars, that the plans of the gods are revealed to those who but know where to look.  They speak it true but their location is false, for I have seen my destiny shining in your eyes" (Anomen, PPG NPC Flirt Pack)

"You know you're tired when you get up from the desk and the headset's still around your neck"

Indeed, I myself thought that my response was laced with perhaps too much bile...but then I looked back over Tob's post and decided that my tone was justified, due to his multiple offenses:
1) He resurrects a thread that's been dead for more than a year and a half.
2) He knows perfectly well that his comment is off topic. ("however, the question i was looking to answer has not yet been dealt with in this thread.")
3) He follows the unfortunate habit of "solving" puzzles in the game by refusing to expend even a single neuron on them, and instead going to some walkthrough on GameBanshee or wherever to find the answer--in this case, he was clearly in such a rush to get the answer that he never even knew what the question was in the first place.
4) He POSTS the answer to the puzzle on a public forum, with no spoiler tag naturally, and on a completely unrelated thread. How would you feel if, as a newbie, you looked at a thread discussing the Find Familar spell, and suddenly found yourself reading every detail of the Pantaloons business?

So yeah, it's possible I scared this guy away from Pocket Plane for life. But I might note that he doesn't exactly seem the type to contribute many interesting modding ideas or experience. Let the folks at Spellhold Studios deal with the guy whose screen name is so close to the acronym for Throne of Bhaal.
(In my own defense, I should note that I'd been calling myself SixOfSpades for years before Shadows Over Soubar came out.)

Out of curiousity, I replayed that bit in SoA and re-solved the puzzle.  Now I know how I did it the first time. :)
