OK, it's an illness, I admit it, I like to pick up every single item that I can and sell it, get every bit of gold that I can (even when I have plenty and won't need much more). I just hate to leave items lying around.
I was able to get away with this in IWD, but BG1 is too expansive to do this, unless you want to take forever to sell every item. Even so, the task becomes iimpossible with the constant spawning of monsters with equipment. Like I said, I'm Ill, I know, but this has given rise to a neat mod idea that fits into the game's story..............
Amnish soldiers are stationed in various areas of the southern map (my ideas are Nashkell Mines - level 1, Cloudpeak Mountains & Gnoll Stronghold. With the iron shortage and growing threats from Gnolls and Kobolds, these soldiers are scavenging for any weapon they can find (figurnig the enemy's weapons aren't contaminated). Thus, like officer Vai, they are empowered to compensate you for all of the extra weapons you can bring them with which they will resupply their forces and arm a local militia (seeing as how their numbers are dwindling lately). Depending on how charcters answer, they may be attacked or not made this offer. But if they answer correctly, they can start a trade relationship with the Amnish Military. That's the basic idea.................
In game terms, you set new actors in the mentioned areas (a soldier shouldn't be alone out there, there should be a few, but one will be the leader/store owner). Create dialog that explains the above and then create the stores where characters can sell their extra weapons.
I'd try this myself, but as mentioned in earlier post, my area mods don't seem to work and I don't have the scripting skills to set up a dialog which leads to opening a store. I barely know how to create dialog strings for spell effects and such. I have no clue how to create a menu of responses or how to write the scripts to launch them.
If anyone capable thinks this a good idea, I'd love to see it done.
