Where can I find good Player Scripts?
« on: April 09, 2006, 06:31:37 AM »
I was talking to someone on-line and they told me that you can make your own player scripts?  How do I do that?  Or are there already such scripts that I can use?

Thanks

Stanley

Actually, I think cirerrek stopped updating his webpage.  The newest versions of his scripts are here: http://www.gibberlings3.net/cirerrek/

Thanks but those aren't the ones that guy was talking about.  Are there any other player scripts out there?  I can't remember what scripts he was talking about but he said they were the best he ever used.  If you can't point me to other scripts can you tell me how to make my own?

Thanks

If you're referring to MPrilla's SuperScripts, then you've been misled.

That's the one he was talking about the superscripts.  I forgot the name thanks for telling me it.  He said he really liked them and has never had a better time playing Baldur's Gate and told me to try them out.  Where can I get them?  Why are you saying I am being misled?  My friend has never mislead me before and I respect his opinion highly?  I don't understand why you would say that?  Could you please link me to them so that I can decide for myself if I like them or not?  Clearly you know about them after all have you tried them yourself?

Thanks

Hey thanks for telling me the name of those scripts.  I did a few searches and found that guys homepage.  http://hometown.aol.com/mprilla/myhomepage/profile.html  If you hadn't told me what to look for I wouldn't have found them.  He has a lot of things on it not just his scripts that I would like to try out.  I will post my findings about them after I use them for a while.  I still don't understand the whole being misled thing could you explain that further?

Thanks again

Yes, the scripts are crap, ruin the gaming experience, and will bog down your system.  MPrilla, the "scripter," is also a psychopath.  If you report any bugs, he will call the cops and sue you in a court of law.

But feel free to give them a whirl at your own risk.  :)

I am sensing a lot of hostility.  And frankly I don't understand why.  My friend told me he used those scripts personally and he has never had a better time playing Baldur's Gate and since he has never lied to me I am going to use them too.  And since I know him and I don't know you at all that leaves me with a credibility issue with your statements now doesn't it?  I am sure you can understand that?  I get the fact that you are a big shot here but I really don't see truthfulness from you and I don't know why?  I will report my findings here.  I can assure you I have no stake in the outcome I only want good player scripts.  My question to you is why all the hostility and please leave out the emotion just explain it logically and truthfully.  I don't care if you don't like the person who made these scripts or not.  That doesn't matter to me and it will never matter to me.  All I care about it is playing the game.  Have you personally used these scripts and are you speaking from experience?  Because I don't see any logic or findings being reported by you.  In exactly what way did they ruin the gaming experience?  And how is it possible for a script any script to bog down your system at all?  Frankly I don't see how that can even ever happen.   I see you hate this guy I get that but I don't know why or care why.  Nor do I care if the person who made these scripts is or is not a psychopath.  Henry Ford was a racist and wrote a book about his views but that won't prevent me from ever buying a Ford car today.  He is dead now after all in any case.  All I care about indeed all any of us care about is playing the game and enjoying doing so.  I don't have to like the person who made these scripts to enjoy them.  And I don't really care what your views are of the maker of those scripts.  You still haven't told me details of why you don't like his scripts?  I will tell you what I will report my findings both here and to this mprilla his e-mail address is on his home page after all.  If he rants and raves like you just did and you claim he will then I will come to the conclusion that you hate each other and guess what I don't care why or want to get involved in that.  Personal feuds and petty jealousies don't interest me.  A good quality player script does.  And I have to tell you that the scripts you advised me to try aren't good quality at all in my opinion.  They may be in your opinion but they are not what I am looking for.  While I am sure that many people enjoy those scripts I didn't.  I can tell they are large scripts and they work to a certain extent but they aren't for me.  So please stop only telling people what you like and let them choose what they like themselves.  I found them very much lacking you see I did try them.  Now I admit I didn't use them for a full game but I very quickly decided that they are not the scripts for me.  I shall now try these superscripts and see if I like them better.  I may not like them either.  Or I may find them to be exactly what I want.  But the point is you didn't give me a choice and you knew about both sets of scripts.  I find it irresponsible that you would promote scripts from one person and not allow the public to choose between other scripts you know exist.  It is your responsibility to tell all the people who post a question here the full story and about all the things they can choose from.  And speak from personal experience you still did not say if you used the superscripts yourself or not?  Why haven't you answered that simple question?  Now if you can look me in the eye and say yes I used the superscripts and list logical reasonable reasons you don't like them then do so.  However you didn't do that.  You ranted in pure hatred and that only makes me want to try the superscripts even more.   I get the feeling that if you hate this guy so much then maybe just maybe he is on to something that even a big shot like you can't do?  And even if you can list logical reasonable rational reasons you don't like his scripts you should face up to the simple fact, that even if you didn't enjoy them others might and they might be just what they are looking for.  Not everyone plays the game or wants to play the game the same way you do.  I don't care why you hate these scripts or their maker?  Perhaps you only hate the maker?  From your reply it seems you hate the maker of them more than you can tell me why these scripts aren't good?  Please explain?  If you do explain please leave out the emotion and hatred of the maker of these scripts and list the reasons you have that you don't like these scripts when you tried them.  If you didn't try them then why do you hate them?  Because if you are going to tell me why to not use these scripts and you haven't ever used them then don't bother.  That would be wrong for you to do and I don't want to hear it.

Thanks

Stanley

My name is Stanley not Mike.  And I did e-mail this mprilla you hate so much.  Just to see if he or you were the more immature in all this.  He told me that talking logically like an adult to you is a waste of my time.  He also told me that you would because of my post, which I did show him, accuse me of being him.  So far that means he told the truth and you haven't.  Funny how he knew you would accuse me of being him?  Do you do that often to people who ask about scripts?  By the way you still have not answered the question have you tried out the superscripts yourself or not?  We all understand you hate mprilla and you think I am him.  I am not but let's put that aside for now.  Answer the question.  Did you use the superscripts yourself personally or not?  If you did then report your findings in detail.  I don't care why you hate this mprilla and I don't care if he is nuts or not.  And just what makes you think a normal, logical, reasonable, rational person is this Mike you claim I am?  I still have yet to try these superscripts and I still have no stake in the outcome.  I may hate them or love them I don't know.  I do know you are dead wrong about whom I am.  But I have to say on a shear level of maturity you are falling behind even more and more.  Please drop the unfounded accusation and just answer the question did you personally use these superscripts and report your personal observations when you did use them.

Thanks

Stanley

Yes, Stanley. It's okay. Your name isn't Mike. Your scripts may or may not be good, and they may or may not suck ass. Why don't we leave your link up for people to follow, and they can judge for yourself if they want your scripts or not? That way we can all be calm and with the time we save from not arguing, we can practice our paragraph-creation skills! Woo! I love paragraphs, myself. They're so nice and... tidy, y'know?

Also eminently readable.

Hello Stanley

How about a few comments from someone who's NOT important here and someone mprilla DOESN'T know?

I realise you trust your friend over any you may meet here because, as you said, you know him and you don't know us.  After all, everyone's entitled to their own opinions, right?

I don't know if you're using Mods in your BG games but if you are and they use the WeiDU installer, anything you add after them that doesn't use the WeiDU installer WILL stuff up your game.  Fact.  I know, it's happened to me.

Those on this forum will give you their BEST advice based on knowledge which, compared to yours or mine, is certainly far more extensive.

Is your friend's computer IDENTICAL to yours?  That may make a difference to how anything works.

This was your original question.  A couple of people answered it in good faith.  You went off into a rant, leading me to now believe that you only came here to stir up trouble. If your friend had the scripts, didn't they include a readme that gave the author's webpage address?

There are many different scripts around, some built into NPC Mods.  I've tried a few, some work for me, some don't.

Also, please, if you were ever taught how to use paragraphs at school, please use them.

Silk

PS: Perhaps I should really be taking my own advice here and not feeding the trolls but I couldn't resist.

Oh, and I'm sorry, this bit:

I don't have any scripts.  I came here looking for some and I got the run around.  And, as far as my Paragraphs are concerned that is a personal insult for no reason at all.  If you haven't noticed people don't post to forums in perfect English and no one expects them to do so and you pointing out their mistakes is immature and beyond unforgivable.  And for the record the first person or side to say you didn't use perfect English lost the argument all the time every time.  It proves you don't have any logical points to make at all.  I didn't insult you or anyone for that matter.  Do you always welcome new people so warmly here?  I really don't understand the accusations and insults being thrown at me when all I wanted to know was where I can get good player scripts?  What, is wrong here?  Why, am I being put through hell for asking a question?  Can't anyone state for me in a logical, reasonable, non emotional, intelligent, mature reply if they have used these superscripts or not?  Hurling insult after insult at me personally isn't going to prove to anyone that these scripts aren't good at all.  In fact it very clearly does the exact opposite.  The more you insult me, just for asking about them, the more you prove you have never even used these scripts and have no reason to tell people to not use them at all.  Now please, tell me exactly why this is happening to me?  Because I have no idea.  This mprilla did predict it would happen though.  I guess I will have to ask him why this is happening to me.  And why no one will tell me if they have used his scripts or not.  I get strait answers from him without insults.  I can't say the same about this forum so far.  Perhaps, others will now post here that can answer me strait?

Thanks

Stanley

Silk, thanks for your reply.  NO THANKS for the paragraph reference at all.  That was wrong of you and you know it.  Piling on and on about something that shouldn't have been said in the first place is getting old real fast thank you very much.

I seriously doubt a weidu installer matters for scripts.  The scripts they told me to use at first don't use weidu nor do the superscripts.  So clearly that doesn't matter for player scripts at all.  It certainly isn't a reason these mprilla haters gave in the first place nor can they give it now since the scripts they put forth don't use weidu either.  Nor has either set of scripts stuffed up my game.  And if you personally didn't have that happen to you when downloading and installing the superscripts or the escripts then your statement is guessing.  I don't want guessing.  I want facts.

Read this entire thread again.  I didn't go off on a rant.  A rant went off on me.  And still is going off on me.  Especially when it was apparent that some people weren't properly helping me.

My friend is out of town and I couldn't reach him.  But I will say this his interpretation of these superscripts and what people are saying here couldn't be more opposite.  I know my friend used them yet no one here has said they actually tried them out?  Doesn't that make you suspicious of their answers and motives for their answers?  I know I am going to find out for myself if I like these superscripts or not and not rely on people that insult and belittle me for no reason at all.

Your point about some scripts working for you and some not is my point.  These people knew about the existence of the superscripts yet they didn't tell me about them when I asked about good player scripts.  They should have told me about all the player scripts they knew about instantly.  That is what a reasonable person does.  If you know of other scripts than the two sets mentioned please mention them now.  I would like to try them out.

And frankly this accusation that I am this Mike is getting old as well as being totally unfounded in reality.  I guess the party line here is thou shalt hate mprilla and all his works and denounce him at all times.  I must have committed the biggest sin imaginable to not instantly hate a person I don't even know and giving this persons scripts the benifit of the doubt?  And one no one has shown me any reason at all that I should hate him either.  Exactly why do people hate him?  Can anyone answer that?  I can say he never did anything to me but a lot of people who don't like him are doing things to me that they shouldn't be doing.  I can see why he hates those people they aren't making me a happy camper right now.

See there are your paragraphs, now can someone who actually used the superscripts make an intelligent, reasonable comment here?

Thanks

Stanley

I am sure it is just a coincidence that "steve" did not register, and he has the same paragraph "style" as Mike.

Can't anyone state for me in a logical, reasonable, non emotional, intelligent, mature reply if they have used these superscripts or not?

No, I have not used the scripts.  I have never seen them before.  From personal experience, I don't download anything from a user webpage of someone I don't know or wasn't referred to because of the endearing habit of such people to add viruses to their files.

When I first started looking for scripts/Mods/etc for BG2, I searched extensively.  Your page never showed.

Any further logical, reasonable, non emotional, intelligent, mature questions?

I see you've managed to post before me - I asked for the paragraphs first but Ghrey's reply was posted first.  It's an eye thing.  My eyes can't comprehend non-paragraphs.  Sorry if it's weak of me to ask for a little courtesy.

Don't worry, Silk. Mike Stuart will never change.

He shows up every so often, bragging about his "sooper" scripts that are nothing more then a  cheat hack that give you the ability to use and have abilities that your characters should never have.

Hell, I'm using an ENTIRE kit that's a cheat in it's own right.  I'm testing it for someone and having great fun with it.  And SK is my friend.  I'm not above a few "ultra" abilities.  I've played it both ways.  Now I figure I can play whichever way gives me pleasure.
