Is Imoen (either in Bg1 or BG2) unresurrectable? If yes then it makes sense. a little.
If so, then it's the result of a mod. In any core (patch + BaldurDash), Imoen can always be raised, or at least for me.

No that is exactly what I am after. Every bhaalspawn cannot be resurrected since his essence flies straight to the pools for Melissan. So this is a major game hickup for me. :(

Well, IIRC the only person in SoA (yes, I'm deliberately ignoring ToB ;)) who tells you that Imoen is a Bhaalspawn is Irenicus.  If it helps any, just pretend he's wrong/lying.  Perhaps Imoen is actually the daughter of a Bhaalspawn (i.e. a grand-Bhaalspawn), or has a different divine parent altogether.

Every Bhaalspawn's power manifests itself in a different way, so why can't one of Imoen's powers be that she doesn't disintegrate when she dies? Apart from the minor abilities she gains in ToB, she's no different from any other NPC you could pick up on the street, so I think the ability to be Raised is certainly not over-the-top.

Besides, it's a plot point that the PC does not know that Imoen's a Bhaalspawn until Irenicus spills the beans, and that's the sort of secret that would be kind of difficult to keep if Imoen evaporated into energy right in the first map out of Candlekeep.

Anyway the fact that the PC cannot be ressurrected because of the bhaal essense seems to me like an "exuse" for a poor game balance choice. It was especially idiotic in "before Totsc" days when using party formations PC always was at the front and being a e.g. wizard died a lot. I suspect they wanted the player to be "tied emotionally" to that one character, but really this does not make sense.

Umm....unless they chose to make somebody else be the Party Leader, putting their portrait at the top and putting them into the Tanking position.

In the original release of BG1 you were not able to change the order of the party, that function was added later.

You could always change party order, as far as I know, and I had BG1 without TotSC way back in the day.

Wasn't it added in a patch? I'm 99.9% that it wasn't possible in intial version in BG1. Anyway TotSC manual mentions changing party order under features added by expantion/patches. Though BG series manuals tend to lie...

I played BG1 without ToSC or patches for a long time, and I don't remember ever not being able to change marching order.

Jester,

I would not ask for any better. In my opinion, its more important to restore BG1 Unfinished Business and fix bugs and inconcistencies rather than give birth to new Mods that introduce new kits or quests or romances although I don't mean at all to despise the latter.

Asked this a long time ago, because i thought it was kinda strange:
Quote
what's up with the undead figther at Ulcaster School. Is there any way of speaking some sense into his empty skull, or is he just another boss ???
...or is he just another excuse to earn xp and a +1 flail?

Would kinda be cool if you could help him somehow.

There are hints, rumors, and allegations that there was more to the Ulcaster School than what made it into the game, but I think an Ulcaster School expansion is more than I want to do for UB.  The Ulcaster School, however, like the Gnoll Stronghold, is an area that is just screaming for expansion--or at least gesturing emphatically.  I'll look for scrapped dialog that might be associated with Icharyd, though.

I got the impression that the best way you could help him was by dying. I read him as the leader of the Ulcaster Undead, perhaps he was a leader of the forces that destroyed the school in the first place. (In which case, a nice expansion would be that whenever Icharyd sees Ulcaster, he attacks. Ulcaster tries to cast some weak spells to defend himself, but Icharyd pulverizes him, rendering even his spectral form nonexistent for about an hour or so.)

ARTOLA.DLG only has one state:

IF ~False()~ THEN BEGIN 0 // from:
  SAY #19916 /* ~Helm has granted me your timely assistance! Come, fight your way to my side and let us purge these sewers of this plague!~ */

Pilar and Gheldehar: Equitable Division of Property

Pilar and Gheldehar: Equitable Division of Property

GHELDE.DLG belongs to a gnomish cleric in Baldur's Gate named Gheldehar.  He would like you to get his boots back from Pilar (PILAR.DLG), a half-elf at the Friendly Arm Inn.  It also seems that Pilar would like her ring back from Gheldehar.  Neither appear in the game, I don't think.

GHELDE.DLG is as follows:
Quote
IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 0 // from:
  SAY #15499 /* ~Take your piety elsewhere, fools. It has no place here.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 1 // from:
  SAY #15500 /* ~An old "friend" of mine took too close of a liking to some boots of mine. Her name's Pilar and she's probably hiding out at the Friendly Arm Inn, if I know her right. I don't care how you have to do it but I must have those boots back.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ JOURNAL #15797 /* ~I stumbled across a dirty little gnome called Gheldehar in an alleyway, today. He claims that Pilar, an old 'friend' currently staying at the Friendly Arm Inn, has stolen his boots and he would like to have them returned. As Gheldehar didn't seem to care how I might acquire them, I suspect his use of the term 'friend' was little more than window-dressing.~ */ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 2 // from:
  SAY #15501 /* ~I see you don't have my boots with you. Do not test my patience as I do not take well to enemies.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 3 // from:
  SAY #15502 /* ~My boots... Just let me put these on for a moment...~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 4 // from:
  SAY #15503 /* ~Your service has been exemplary. Here is 90 gp for a rainy day...~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~AddexperienceParty(400)
~ EXIT
END

IF ~~ THEN BEGIN 5 // from:
  SAY #15504 /* ~Ah, my boots. You have done well. In payment, allow me heal some of your wounds.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~AddexperienceParty(400)
~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 6 // from:
  SAY #15505 /* ~Your ongoing visits are less than discreet. I urge you to discontinue them at once.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 7 // from:
  SAY #15506 /* ~Feeling brave, are we?~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

And PILAR.DLG:
Quote
IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 0 // from:
  SAY #15507 /* ~Unless you're willing to buy a gal some ale, you're not welcome here.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 1 // from:
  SAY #15508 /* ~Travelers are you? Takes one to know one, I guess... I don't know if you're heading that way but, if you ever end up in Baldur's Gate, keep your eyes open for Gheldehar, an old gnomish cleric. Trickier than an old wyrm, that one. He's still got an old ring of mine which I'd love to have back, actually. Oh, and in case you didn't catch it... that was a subtle hint.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ JOURNAL #15800 /* ~Over a frothy ale at the Friendly Arm Inn, Pilar the half-elf has warned me of Gheldehar, an old gnomish cleric in Baldur's Gate. He still has an old ring of hers and, if I could ever get it back to her, she has promised to make the journey worth my while.~ */ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 2 // from:
  SAY #15509 /* ~Thanks for the ale, sucker.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 3 // from:
  SAY #15510 /* ~Been to Baldur's Gate, yet? Watch your back for Gheldehar when you do...~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 4 // from:
  SAY #15511 /* ~Thanks for your help! Just let me put this ring on. It's been so long...~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~AddexperienceParty(100)
~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 5 // from:
  SAY #15512 /* ~You've done well. Here, let me give you another in return.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~AddexperienceParty(500)
ReputationInc(1)
~ EXIT
END

IF ~false()~ THEN BEGIN 6 // from:
  SAY #15513 /* ~Very well, then. Let acts of folly betray the fool.~ */
  IF ~~ THEN DO ~~ EXIT
END
