Hi guys.

just installed Tutu on a BG1+TotSC+UK5512patch/BG2+patch installation and received the following error message in the bg1tutu.log file:

Can anyone explain?

NB  I have on the same volume another BG Installation of BP-BGT-NEJ, and to get the patch to BG2 in the Tutu folder to load I had first to delete all references to ToB in the Registry, replacing them afterwards.  I haven't installed ToB in the Tutu installation.  Otherwise it's a standard BG installation.

Ps:  re Japeth's post of 6/23/04 on this problem my config.ini file =

~source~         [ ~G:\TuTu\BG1~]
~source.variant~ [ ~BG1~ ]

~target~         [ ~G:\TuTu\BGII - SoA~]
~target.variant~ [ ~BG2 - SoA~ ]

// You should not have to change below this line.

OK - just worked out there shouldn't have been the { -SoA } in the second target variant.

Got as far as choosing the language (American?) and it halted again with the message:

SET_STRING out of range 0___62271

It's now midnight so I'm going to bed.  Will call again tomorrow and search forum for above, unless anyone would like to point me at the answer now!

Cheers

Hello -

I'm not entirely sure what your problem is, but since you have TotSC, if you continue to have problems you might give EasyTutu a try.  As long as you've done a 100% completely full installation of BG1+TotSC, and have installed and patched BG2 (and ToB if you have it), it basically reduces Tutu installation to running a user-friendly setup program.

If you want to soldier on with your current problem, here's a thought: did you try installing Baldurdash fixpacks and game text update for both games prior to installing Tutu?  The GTU in particular may solve whatever that string error is (if the error is related to DIALOG.TLK, anyway).

Hello Macready.

Thanks for that.

I've installed SoA with the latest patch for that in my Tutu folder, but not Tob as it wouldn't install a second time - I already have it installed in the BG-BGT-NEJ folder on my G: drive.

As explained above I had to export, delete and then import the ToB keys back into the registry in order to be able to apply the SoA patch to the SoA installation in the Tutu folder.  I didn't install Tob into the Tutu folder as the BG1tutu beta v4 readme says you don't need ToB, but I see that Zethre in his mail of 2 Nov. [http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,20500.0.html] says you do need ToB installed for Tutu.

Could you clarify?

Thanks

ToB should not be required for Tutu.

There is a better way to create cloned installations which will solve your ToB installation problem -- click here to read how.  If you want to give EasyTutu a try, it automatically creates a cloned installation for you.

G'day Mcready.

Thanks.

I already have a BP-BGT-ised version of BG installed and working!!!, but now I know how to do that it might be easier to uninstall everything and start afresh with an Easytutu-ised multiple installation.  If it leaves the original BG1 and 2 installations intact I could then used them as a base for a BP-BGT-NEJ installation and play them in parallel, yes?

Question - Tutu doesn't work for DSotSC, I understand.  If I want to do Dark Side too, can I copy a BG1 save-game from the TuTu folder into the BP-BGT-NEJ folder as a starting-point for DSotSC?  If I have Finch or Indera in the party can they be added to a BGT game?

Cheers.

Yes, EasyTutu doesn't touch your BG1 and BG2 installations.  It just draws what it needs from each of them in order to form an independent third installation for Tutu.

I very much doubt that save games would be compatible between one and the other.

Only if those mods have been ported to BGT -- I have no idea if they have or not.  IMO one of the advantages of Tutu is that it has better mods, such as the ones you just mentioned.

That's my view, too.

All up and running now.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Macready

Have been having problems with an Easytutu installation and BG1NPCproject.  The guys on the latter at Gibberlings 3 referred me to you with the following comment on an extract from my debug file:

Okay, you will need to address your questions to the Easy-TUTU author(s). The error that you recieve:

QUOTE
ERROR locating resource for 'REPLACE_STATE_TRIGGER'
Resource [_BYESLI.DLG] not found in KEY file:
[./chitin.key]
ERROR: preprocessing APPEND_EARLY [BG1NPC/Dialogues/BGREPLACE.d]: Failure("resource [_BYESLI.DLG] not found for 'REPLACE_STATE_TRIGGER'")
Stopping installation because of error.

means that the conversion did not converted Yeslick's dialogue file. In other words, your conversion seems to be incomplete. I don't know if this is a result of Easy TUTU being 'mild' on the incomplete conversions or changing the resources... but the install hicks up because you do not have all the files necessary converted from BG1 to BGTUTU format.

Can you help?

Hello again -

It sounds very much like you attempted to install BG1NPC over your BG2 installation instead of your EasyTutu installation.  Remember that EasyTutu creates a completely separate installation for Tutu -- your BG2 installation remains a BG2 installation.

Please direct any further reponses to the G3 thread.  I'll be watching it.
