Improved Assassins?
« on: October 10, 2005, 03:47:28 PM »
Is there any mod that enchances their thieving abilities a little? Yeah, I know, they have special abilities, but as a thief, they SUCK! *no offense*
You need to have another thief with you if your assassin wishes to be succesful in anything more than pick locks and find traps.
So if you don't have another thief, then either kiss the "hide in shadows" goodbye (yes, I know there is potions and rings, but...) or forget being able to pick a lock or disable a trap before you reach higher levels.

Have you tried Andyr's Song and Silence mod: http://www.gibberlings3.net/sns/index.php ?

Is good, yes.  Recommended.

We've not altered base Thief kits (we might do in the future), but yeah, we definitely increase the options you have. :)

I just checked it out, thanks for telling me, icelus.

One question, there is one thief class that can use a "psions blade" or some such.. I'm a little cautious with those modadded abilities.
The Death Knights Harm Touch causes my game to crash everytime.
But some others, like the monks changed abilities work well enough.

Looking forward to everything you come up with, Andyr.

The Death Knight is not part of S&S. I think it is from the SP collection; Cam's done several bugfix releases for that so it probably works now.

I don't think you need to worry about the psionic stuff crashing the game (though that kit is going to get a major revamp for v2 to bring it in line with the 3.5E version of the class, which is also more unique). In general there is no need to worry about an added spell like that crashing the game any more than any other mod content.
