Throne of Bhaal Sarevok error

I recently tried to play my throne of bhaal and I encountered this problem where Sarevok will attack my main character and then he dies and the game locks up.  He says "Who is this Unseeing One?" and then he tries taking off, and I try to not kill him, but He dies anyway.  any help would be appreciated
