[Minor]Ursa the *traitorous* bear
« on: July 05, 2005, 08:23:52 PM »
In the area near the gnoll fortress where you'll find a xvart encampment, the chieftan of the xvart (Nexlit the Xvart?) will call out a brown bear named Ursa to (supposedly) attack the party. Well, for reasons unknown the bear goes straight to the chieftan and starts mauling him instead. Kinda funny to watch actually. :D

That's always how it's been in BG1.

I don't think I ever once saw this bear attack the Xvart.

But you are right, after Nexlit speaks the dialogue closes with these actions:

CreateCreature("URSA",[3557.2061])
ActionOverride("Ursa",Attack("Nexlit"))

How did I always miss the bear attacking Nexlit?  Maybe the large number of Xvarts around meant he was killed before Ursa got to him and as the bear is an Enemy he turns on the party next rather than the other Xvarts...something new for me in BG1...wow!

Yeah, the first few times I played BG, I always took out Ursa really fast, or Nexlit, and didn't see it.  When I finally did, I laughed my ass off.  I'm just speculating here, but I think if the party interrupts Ursa's attack on Nexlit, she'll do AttackLastAttackerOf(Myself), but I could be very wrong.

Yep, you can force the bear to attack you. I always thought it was put in for fun...
On the similar note, under Tutu Corsone attacks Osmadi's *wolves* not Osmadi himself, so the following dialogue where you can blame Corsone for helping you slay him sort of makes little drammatic sense: Corsone was valiantly helping to keep enraged animals at bay and have not even look Osmadi's way...
