Does BG1Tutu overwrite dialolg.tlk...

...or add to it?

Why I ask: If I want to give my bg1 character some of my favorite items or spells from BG2, will they show up properly?

Also, if I want to add custom items to my BG1Tutu installation, how do I do that?

It adds to it.  Adding custom items to Tutu is done just as you would in BG2.
