Silk, my other name, comes obviously from "smooth as silk".  She's usually a fighter/thief, so it works with both.

Finelines, this name, is the prefix of my cattery.

ImoenNightflame: does this mean your dad played BG? Or is there some other Immy he was referring to?

*KATIE WINS AT STUPID FOR NOT EVER COMING ON HERE EVER*
Yes, Eral, my dad played ALL the BG games. He's the one who originally got me into it. He bought the first BG, and I'd sit by him as he played it. He would constantly bug me to recite her lines for him, cause he thought it was cute.  ::) Stupid geek dads sometimes.

I am in a d20 Star Wars campaign right now, and I had to come up with a name for my Jedi.  I just took the letters in "Anakin" and rearranged them.  I was initally going to spell it "Kanian", because my real name is "Brian"...but after some thought I decided that "Kanain" was more appropriate.  This is due to the fact that so many folks think that you spell my name as "Brain".  I've had teachers in school spell my name that way.  I've had payroll checks paying to the order of Brain.  I've had countless birthday cakes state:  "Happy Birthday Brain".  Thank God for the people who make life so entertaining.

Aww... that's cute. That's how I got into games too, not watching my dad, but watching my then boyfriend/now husband. "That looks neat. I wanna play too!"

--------

Bex is derived from my real name. I have stuck with it for many years, and though it is a popular online nickname, probably for everyone who has the same given name as me, I do seem to possess some notoriety in the world of IE games. Banned by Lady Nightshade and everything. Woo!

I enjoy curry, and occasional fits of D2, though generally not at the same time.

Why the sudden resurrection, I wonder
Well, mine is what I nicknamed myself as a little girl. So my family and friends call me so ever since (since 5yo)
The christian name is Alexandra, but I only use it when I have to

Borsook is a bit Englished spelling of a Polish word borsuk which means badger. But Actually I am not a badger, this nick came about accidentaly and stayed... hmmm I just hope this is the first time I'm posting this in this thread...

I've liked stories about new worlds and discoveries eversince I read one of Jules Verne's books about the sea explorers of the XVI and XVII centuries. I was planning of using Magelan, Da Gamma or Drake, but then I thought it wouldn't really fit and it would be too commonplace. So I tried to think of a similar D&D hero and thus I became Balduran.

You know, Borsook has the same meaning in BG too. Not that t's any surprise baring in mind the common origin of the languages.

The double 'o' confused me from the very beginning, didn't look like Polish, that's why I thought it was smth diffferent. It's a rodent, right, like hampster?

You don't know what's budger, Lu? then for example I changed it to double oo couse I didn't want people to pronounce "u" like in "bus".

EDIT> CRAP. Added missing negation. BTW Eveline was so kind as to suggest that "Borsuk" could be pronounced as "borsuck" :)

heh now we have budgers and boorsoks and they rule
me, my nickname comes from you-know-what, but i think it really has meaning beside certain familiarity with pink floyd, that i usually feel i do wrong whenever i use it (gaming/posting/chatting/mailing) because thats not a purpose of one's living. call it a mental sickness.. there were times when i tried to make it an abbreviation for smth, but failed.
now that was a confession.

Because I'm a level 20 cleric! XD
Oh, Corellon, I am so clever!

And, yeah, Bex, it was kinda cute. I used to watch him play all his video games. If you look through our old "The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall" (yes, I am old enough to remember when that glorious game came out) books, you'll see random names of places, like "Castle Fallem", scrawled in my horrible ten-year-old handwriting on the quest sheets.  :D

Hey! Don't say it like that! It's a pretty new game for me, which makes me feel old... now let's talk about Arena or something.

I liked "Arena". It was fun. Crappy, compared to Daggerfall, but fun.
I preferred Daggerfall over everything, especially Morrowind. Morrowind was fun, but it didn't have the same dark feel as Daggerfall and Arena did.
Not to mention, the Daggerfall music was awesome.  ;D It was some of my fave game music ever. ESPECIALLY the tavern music. That crap got stuck in your head for DAYS.

Yeah and world in morrowind seems so small compared to daggerfall. There was only one problem with the last one - Buggerfall. The version out of box was almost impossible to finish

That's why I downloaded the patch for it on my uncle's compute, then saved it on a floppy. Because he had this miraculous thing called "internet" and used "America OnLine" to get there!
My computer back then only had Telnet. That was the closest thing we had to intarweb.
Ah, back in the days of Telnet and floppy drives...

Drew comes from Andrew.  In other words it's my name.

Ahh yes...shrimp curry, garnished with Major Grey's chutney sauce  ;)
I don't want Ghreyfain squirting his canadian chutney all over my curry, thank you very much.

My nick comes from my made up Harry Potter character, Jade Elizabeth Diggory.  Her nickname's Liz, so I either alternate between using JadeDiggory, LizDiggory, and more recently Lizzy.

I didn't, just knew it was smth that moves and breathes, that's it. Now I know, thanks
My next question should be about hampsters, I guess
My third question should be first of all to Sister Imoen Nightflame, for she's supposed to be the wisesest of all of us, but to the rest of us as well (excluding myself though), that's why the thread separate from the introductions? Looks logical to be part of the ceremony, methinks

I used to play Shufflepuck Cafe on my friend's Mac. And Gauntlet. And then SimCity... [other stuff]

Okay, that's pretty messed up.  I would've swore I wrote that reply in another thread.  Then I moved it to another forum, so maybe this got left out.  That's bizarre, but luckily I have mega moderatorial powers with which to remove all evidence of my folly this software bug.
