Icingdeath
« on: February 13, 2005, 12:30:24 PM »
As it says in legacy of the drow(possibly other books) Icingdeath is forged to banish fiends. So should'nt it have +4-8 against tanar'ri(the only fiends in bg+totsc), like that bastard sword has against shape shifters?

hey, its nice to see someone who mods for bg ;D

I tend to confuse the names of his swords so I had a look in the books. Twinkle is the name of his Scimitar +3 Frostbrand which was taken from the horde of Icingdeath, a white dragon. The Scimitar +5 Defender seems to be nameless. As a Frostbrand sword, Twinkle has a +6 bonus against fire-using/dwelling creatures and that bonus has already been implemented.

hmm, i thougth Twinkle was the one that glowed blue whenever Drizzt was exited or in combat. Icingdeath, i think, was the one he took from Icingdeath(the dragon)'s horde. Icingdeath only glows blue in extreme cold conditions, or when fiends are around, because it was forged with "fiend hunt" in mind.

This is the magical scimitar +5 Defender that bears the name "Twinkle."  It is one of the personal weapons of Drizzt.  Due to its magical nature, only those pure of heart can use it.

So BioWare have shifted the names, which is typical. I going to let them keep the names they have to avoid any further confusion.

Actually, the mistake is TSR's, not Bioware's ;).  The +3 scimitar is Icingdeath and +5 scimitar is Twinkle, but they screwed up when writing Heroes' Lorebook, and the mistake may have been carried over to elsewhere.

Think about it for a moment - makes sense for the sword with cold-related powers to be "Icingdeath", and the sword which glows to be called "Twinkle", doesn't it? :)

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I had a look at both Heroes' Lorebook and Hall of Heroes and their information was the same, but as you say, if they screw up one place it gets carried on.

Were there two versions of Hall of Heroes? The one I've got (which is 1st Edition) says one of his swords is non-magical ;).

There are two seperate books and they are both 2nd Edition. Hall of Heroes is the oldest and the other one is Heroes' Lorebook (which is the counterpart to Villains' Lorebook).
