Manually copying BG1 files the Custom Install missed
« on: January 20, 2005, 07:57:08 PM »
I did a custom install, and it didn't install all fo the areas.  I tried to manually copy them to the data folder, but it says "Cannot copy AREA510X: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).  I have no idea what this means =(.  I tried copying them to another folder, and then was going to copy everything from the data folder to there and then rename it, but I got the same error.  What is going on, and how can I solve it?  BG1 TuTu has turned out to be really really fun so far, but I can't progress without all of the areas.

If it balks at copying the file from your CD, then it's most probably your CD which is scratched or something like that... :(

Well, they copied over, but I still can't get to Nashkel.  Dunno what's up.  The areas ARE in the data folder, I checked.  Any ideas?

Do I need to uninstall and reinstall everything?  Did TuTu change all of the areas but not these ones because they didn't install for some reason?

Did you... er... unconvert TUTU, reinstalled BG1 properly and re-convert it with TUTU?

No, but you will have to run the unconverter routine from TUTU

I unconverted and uninstalled.  Then I reinstalled, made sure it was all there, and installed the patch.  Then I converted again.  It still won't let me go to Nashkel.  It still just shuts down when I go there.  Could it be because I am using the same saved game?  Do I need to start over?

Try it without a saved game, yeah.  Use this clua code to get to Nashkel: CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("FW4800") to see if it works.
