Weidu help?
« on: December 06, 2004, 02:59:02 PM »
hi all,

I have just finished constructing a mod putting in a custom shop keeper and items, but being new with the weidu format i can't get the install thing to work.  Would someone be willing to take a look at it and tell me what i have done wrong, or even better fix it for me?

Thanks

Sinister

Hi all,

I am new to the weidu format and have been trying to set up a custom store and items to install, however the installer doesn't want to work.  Would someone be willing to take a look and tell me what i have done wrong, or possibly fix it for me?

How are you trying to install the mod?  You'll need to make a copy (not a shortcut) of the weidu.exe file, and rename it the same as your .tp2.  For instance, if your .tp2 is named "setup-Lleu.tp2" then you need to make a copy of weidu.exe and name it "setup-Lleu.exe"

Showing us the error message would be good, too. The END at the end is wrong, for starters.

I have set up my mod as follows,

I have put a renamed copy of the weidu.exe into the folder as setup-lleu.exe with setup-lleu.tp2.

in the tp2 file, i have set it to copy the pertinent files across.  I have set up an english language directory with files containing the descriptions of the items etc.

A zip of what i have done is here - http://members.lycos.co.uk/pharaizon/lleu.zip

Will post up the debug with the error messages soon

cheers  ;D

Yeah, like I said, you don't use END like that in a TP2.

Ok, I have taken the END off the tp2 file now, it is giving a 'PARSE ERROR at line 11 colum 1-4' as well as saying there is a syntax error on the copy command and still getting the usual parse errors at the end.

Is there anything else wrong with the tp2 file?

A couple of things strike me as potential problems...

One is the use of AT_INTERACTIVE_EXIT at the very top. I can't actually remember if that's legal or not.

Looking at the code, though, it sounds like it's saying the parse error is on the line of ////, or maybe a blank line or the BEGIN, none of which make a whole lot of sense unless you don't actually have the TRA files populated the way you think you do.

I'll give it another run through.  I made this by working from the tp2 for the Ruad rho'fessa smithy mod as i wasn't sure about how to stick it together from scratch.  I have since given it a bit of a re-write, keeping the whole setup & descriptions and names within the one tp2 file.

AT_ALL is Legal everywhere you put it (if there can be actions at point X, of course).
blank TRA isn't a parse error.

You have no SAY statement here.

And stop using integers as your state labels for freshly made .d files, right now. It can only end in tears. Even if you use "a1" and "a2" or something like that, it's much smarter.

That suggests LIEU.STO, or an item within, is corrupt. Try it with a store from the unmodded game, or without any new items, and see if it works. :)

think i have that sorted, i looked at the store file and the store type was corrupted (sorted now i think).  I have talked to my shop keep and exited to make sure that worked ok, now i can't get a response from him. odd.
