Nalia's portrait(s)
« on: October 21, 2004, 06:30:36 PM »
I edited Nalia's portrait a little and thought I'd post the results here:

Edit: Nothing to see here, move along.

So hard to choose. I admit being a sucker for that Amnian hair-bunching (it's not really a braid) thing they have, but then, hair almost but not quite in the eyes is pretty good too. :)

Very nice work. I think the original hair would look good with one of the blue outfits, too. :)

They are quite good.  Any chance, though, of removing the drug addict effect from her original portrait?  Maybe she just needs to remove her makeup and get some beauty sleep.

They look great.

They're all good works, but somehow I'm not too fond of changing a NPC portrait, cause I'm used to it :D
Anyway, if I must choose, I would choose number 3 from the last post. But put on her the blue outfit :D

I can see your point. Still, I need something to do to keep me from getting too bored :)

Well, if you do what I suggested in my last post (the pseudo braided, not drug addict + blue outfit) I'll forgive you  ;D  :P

Yeah :D
If the portrait gets changed I would vote for this one :D
But keep experimenting if you have time. I think you might achieve even greater perfection :D

BTW how about doing a poll to ask ppl if they want the portrai changed, and eventually which one they want? *looks at jcompton* I think it might be a good idea :D

Good. I have plenty of time, so I will :)

btw, what is better? "hair almost but not quite in the eyes" or "hair in the eyes"? Or even "hair not at all in the eyes"?

Well ..The current hairstyle seems good to me. Maybe you could just put a few hair before the eyes like in the orignal portrait on her right side of her face. But apart from that, I think the current one is ok.

Now, the bonus question is: Can you/would you do any of these at epilogue resolution or higher (If you don't have it, I can supply the high-res portrait from the collector's edition) and do the work in BMP or TIFF so there's no JPEG loss?

I did those pics in bmp, anyway, I only saved them in jpg for loading. Yes, I could try to do so, if you want to.

It is great that you like it, I'm just not sure if I can do it in high resolution, it seems to be *much* more difficult.

Seems like there's a high copnsensus on this :D Maybe jcompton should really do a poll to ask if ppl want this portrait as a default Nalia portrait :D

:o Well, actually, when I started this thread I had no such thing in mind, I just wanted to have some opinions on what I did to poor Nalia..

Well maybe you didn't have such a thing in mind. But considering the result I think it would be a pity to just let it all go to waste :D

Very good work. I like them all. My favorite, as of now, is the first one of your second post, since I don't like the monocolored blue outfit much.

If I could select features: A combination of the changed, semi-braided hairstyle and healthier face color of the latest versions with the outfit of the rightmost of the original four would be my favorite. Maybe with a little less make-up around the eyes, too.

Could you do a ready-to-use set of alternate Nalia portraits? Your Nalia versions are those I like best of all I have seen so far, and I'd like to have one of them in my games.

I'm currently trying to do a bigger version. I guess when the hair is done (which I find quite tricky), I'll do various outfits (including the one you like)  :)
