Question re APPEND ~pdialog.2da~ file

I am still working my way through Ghreyfein's tutorial to NPC's and hope I have now come to the APPEND ~pdialog.2da# statements in the .tp2 file. (So nearly there  :) )

In his example he seems to have delimited each entry with something,  either multiple spaces or a tab. e.g.

~DL#BWN       DL#BWNP      DL#BWNJ      DL#BWND~
UNLESS ~DL#BWN~
UNLESS ~25POST~

Is the delimiter significant? If so what is it?  (How any spaces?, How large a Tab? )

Also Is the .tp2 file's APPEND argument delimiter (the ~) significant in the spacing

What is the best reference to the file I am appending , so I can try and understand what I am doing rather than just copying my example.

One space is sufficient for the delimiter.

What is the meaining of the *J & *D entries?  How can I tel if I have a complete APPEND command? How can I answer these questions without bugging you all?

Is there a document, thread or commentry on the web  on the pdialog.2da files and how to design the changes?

Both DOS (CR/LF) and UNIX (LF) line separators work. I'm not sure about other formats.

A pdialog.2da entry goes: ~DeathVariable PostDialogueFile JoinDialogueFile DreamScript~

Hopefully you know what a death variable is (the name by which the game indentifies a character), the dream script is a script that runs on the NPC every time the party rests. Ghrey has out lined the different dialogue files uses "here."

You can look at a 2da file using a text editor. NI, DLTCEP and Infinity Explorer all support 2da file viewing.
