The Best Way to Organize a Dialogue Tree for Your Coder
« on: June 01, 2004, 11:18:16 AM »
I've looked around quite a bit for the best way to organize a dialogue tree in terms of just writing it, and I see quite a few different methods. Some peoples' examples involve numbering the blocks, some involve actual names, and some pull the blocks apart and list them line by line.

If you were just *writing* the trees, and not actually coding them at this point, what's most convenient method for all parties involved? I'd hate to force either end - coding or writing - to do any more backtracking than necessary. Especially the writing, for obvious reasons.

The sample dialogs on Cailean's forum are pretty much how St. Josephine sends the dialogs to me.  She labels them [Block 1] etc, when she writes them and I label them with something appropriate as I code them up.  This was something we discussed when we first started working together and it works fine for us.

If you have a specific coder in mind, then you should discuss with them how they would like to receive the dialogs.

Ah, good.
I actually have been using the Cailean dialogues as my example.

Thank you.
