I posted the IEAAIS asking why is he still offering the classic Ascension, while you made a WeiDU based one.
His reply was:
1) ban me . like I cared.
2) previous moderator, who is evil, as I should know well, didn't even post it for DL.
3) I (Mprilla) posted Classic one because it was made at IEAAIS, so it's mine property.
4) If you wish, you can post the WeiDU one. (PS: I haven't, as it isn't mine.)
5) Wes stealed it, because he didn't ask all IEAAIS to upgrade it.
6) what Wes had done was wrong, because he allowed the player to choose what components to install.

OK, I know that he (Mprilla) will flame me, and that I shouldn't ask you to reply to a question like this. Anyway, I'd like to hear your opinion on this issue (especially the point 5). Thanks in advance for your sincerity and your time.
The Bigg.
PS: please don't flame me. Mprilla is enough for me

My e-mail address is wal.big.it@libero.it. I have to write this because Mprilla keeps addressing to me as "the guy who claims to be italian" but isn't because he posts only at the Big Picture Forum.

1) ...
2) ...

3) I don't believe "mprilla" owns Ascension (classic or otherwise) in general. However, I also don't really recall all of the Ascension authors and contributors getting together and signing some sort of legal document explaining who owns what and what the various contributions and copyrights were. Since it was a free third-party mod, that's to be expected.

4) You're welcome to post a link to it. Try to avoid posting the binary itself (mirrors tend to get out of synch).

5) I'm actually having trouble with the English here, so let's posit two things that could be said that would make sense as claims:

5a) "Wes stole it because he didn't ask all Ascension Contributors before repackaging it."
One assumes that all Ascension Contributors gave their permission for David Gaider to package it up as he saw fit (originally he did so with a series of ZIP files). Wes did get Gaider's blessing for the WeiDU conversion, and it is difficult to see a difference in acceptability between "Gaider OKs a WeiDU port by Wes" and "Gaider OKs a WeiDU port by Gaider" if Gaider already has permission. In addition, Wes also had the explicit support of many of the main contributors (as listed by Gaider in the README) -- Quitch is a good example here. Wes also has general "blanket" permission from many IEAAIS authors to repackage their works as long as correct attribution is retained -- Kensai Ryu and Xyx are good examples here, and some of them were also credited by Gaider on Ascension. Finally, in order for this sort of allegation to even make sense we have to change our notion of "stole" from the conventional one (since legal recourse for third-party unofficial game mods is murky) to the "presumably intended" one in this context (which is equivalent to the fanfiction cry of "you stole my idea!"). In this light things become clearer -- Asc/WeiDU is clearly labelled as "not written by Weimer".

5b) "Wes stole it because he didn't ask all Ascension Contributors before changing some critical Ascension conent."
Once or twice someone has suggested that there is a notable intentional difference between Asc/Classic and Asc/WeiDU. Invariably this turns out to be either a minor bug of some sort (which is then fixed), a local installation error (which can be transient), or the original poster being used to an old version of Asc/Classic. Asc/WeiDU should have all of the same content as the last version of Asc/Classic
(plus translations, etc.). My explicit goal is not to change the content (e.g., by making the battles harder or easier or by changing the writing).

6) I'm not sure what "mprilla" is remembering, but "components" like "Tougher Yaga-Shura" were available "optionally" long before Asc/WeiDU, as evidenced by the separate READMEs for them (written by Gaider) that are still distributed with Asc/WeiDU. In fact, those components are *still* available separately today as ZIP files on Baldurdash: http://baldurdash.org/ToB/TOBtweaksandcheats.html . The player could always choose what to install, it was just a lot more work.

Thanks. I already knew he was (in some or some other way) wrong, but I still wanted to hear your opinion on this matter. Thanks for the sincerity.
PS: I was referring to 5a. I know well that no critical changes were done from the Ascension Classic. I even cannot play it, as I need the dialogF.tlk, so without your help I could have never played such a good MOD. Thanks a lot for all of your efforts.
PPS: I won't post or link anything to IEEAIS, because I've been banned (actually Mprilla thinks that I am Xyx or somebody else in disguise) and, differently from what he thinks, I am myself (Valerio Bigiani from Modena, Italy), and not an emergency IP/E-mail address for people who get banned, nor wish to have emergency IPs and Emails. So, I'm banned from there period.

MPrilla had no part in Ascension and was actually banned from IEEAIS at the time of its production. How he came to control IEEAIS is a long story, and I won't bother to explain that here. It is NOT his property in any way, shape or form. It is the property of those that contributed to its production. David Gaider gave his permission for the WeiDU version, as did we all. Ignore him. End of story.

What club should I join? If you talk about the "Mprilla bashing club", I'm up to it. If you mean a face-to-face club, It would be impossible, since I'm italian (nor can move to US so easily).
@ Cuv: I already knew that Mprilla was going to be wrong, but simply I thought I'd listen to Weimer's opinion. About his contribution to the IE scripting: have you seen his "Super"Script for BG2? There's quite a lot of typos, plus there is not cast'n'attack, nor a performance cutoff or anything every other script has. It will cast Timestop (or anything) on a gibberling. And so on...
Here's an example of how it works (taken from what he had written):

Q: It casts every spell in every battle. How does it handle Ritual?
A: ITS A GREAT SCRIPT YOU NEWBIE AND IF YOU TRIED IT YOU WOULD BE LICKING MY BOOTS BECAUSE ITS THE BEST SCRIPT EVER MADE YOU NEWBIE YOU CLEARLY DIDNT FINISH THE GAME

If anybody could post me an english dialog.tlk, I'll do a translation into Mprickense. Just post here before sending it as an email attachment, since I have a 56k and 5mb space for e-mail. wal.big.it@libero.it
I hope that, when .rar'd, it takes less than 1,5 MB.
This are the changes to do:
1) all capital letters
2) you're --> YOUR; stupid --> MORON;
3) remove punctuation
4) add "YOU F***G NEWBIE" to the end of any line and "YOUR A NEWBIE" to the beginning of any line
5) various mispelling
6) any other ideas?

Sorry to bother you folks, but could someone throw me a link to IEEAIS? Don't know how, but I completely managed to miss those forums in the past (maybe because I'm too much FW-oriented ), but I want to experience these wonderful places!
I WISH TO BE BANNED!

Galactygon can give you some info about that, Maestro. But remember that Mprilla guy could sue you (at least so he threatened the guys at plaguezone forums), not only ban you.

Bigg: Be sure to talk to Xyx some time about the guy.
He got loads of similar drivel to enhance your Prilla experience.

TGM: Together with content, traffic is seriously reduced at IEEAIS these days, since Prilla took over.
The link is: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/IEEAIS/
Edit: He's taken to the habit of posting snippets of his "Super Script" as "Tip of the Day" for easier digestion (dissection? ). I wish you fun should you choose to join (only members can read messages there...)

Feanor: You don't actually believe the suing thing? Just to be sure...

Caswallon, I have 2 questions for you :

1. Where is Xyx ?

2. In fact, I believe he threatened some guys to sue them, I doubt he was awoken when he did that...

Indeed, his SuperScript ( ) really hurts! It has a few.. interesting and "groundbreaking" methods and solutions to the problems of a newbie moron...
There are many intriguing snippets out there from that Super( )Script, for example:
Q: The enemy spellcaster used Death Spell to kill your summons? How could you find a way to counter this via scripts in a tricky way?
A: Make sure the character won't use summons until the end of the battle, since if a creature used Death Spell once, it can use it again ...
Actualy, this one might have been changed in the newest version of the Super( )Script, but it WAS there in 1.0...

What can I say?
Super!

Don't know if he's active anywhere else currently...

TGM: Yeah.

Hmm... I've posted at the Plaguezone forum, but I've missed his sueing threats... He was too lazy. But people there have been threatened for ~20 times and still nothing.
About Xyx: Yeah, I've seen his link to Mpricka's hit parade in his "Spell references", but, alias, there are too many interesting posts for a 56k pay-to-stay-logged modem to DL...

http://plaguezone.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/...php?p=2236#2236
Some random Mprilla bashing zone. Full with various typos and serious bugs that 15 testers didn't notice.
Q: Weimer uses Cast n attack and it's a real pain in the a$$
A: "Weimer is a newbie who cannot script"
He said to me: thanks for the typos, I won't give you any credit because your a MORON!
1) I could sue him
2) I don't want to be credited by him
3) his scripts suck and I don't want to appear near them.

And his script is full of interesting things (apart from typos); for example, it kills Ascension's Detectable Spells, it uses no Cast n attack (since Xyx created it), it casts every buff and ONLY then every attacking spell, so if you get jumped by some Random Wilderness encounter (Weimeric or not) you can die because you were going to cast "Protection from acid". The script picks up things: 1) only standard stuff and 2) they're 1000+ lines of PickUpItem("brac10"), to ensure you can pick up the Bracers of healing, in case some enemy drops them. He typed all that stuff: that's why he'd gone so insane.

EDIT: Wow, this is my 100th post...I'm growing non-newbie!
Ah no, I'm still a newbie beacuse I never finished the original throne of Blood, only the Asc-one. (So MP says)

Google for him: apparently, he's into beer brewing right now (although most results are from his scripting days). He also made an appearance over at tbg.eu an year and half ago.

Google for him
I think he's asking if there's any vets of the old wars still around or if it's all the younger generations now. To which, I say, no (just look at this thread -- how many of those people have you seen lately?).

Sorry I'm so late, but I just came across this. All those years ago and I hadn't so much as thought of Mikey until I saw Bigg's MProlla the Cheater mod. Wow, how time flys when you don't have to listen to Mikey's rants.

I don't remember what name I posted under, but I was one of the first to call Mikey on his BS.
