Is it possible to clear Ascension with pala alone?

I have tried fighter/mage, fighter/thief, kensai-dual class mage or thief....etc.  But paladin seems to get stumped at the final battle after I take out all the members of the Five.  Since I set the level of the difficulty to insane, the numbers of demons she summon is literally like the difficulty: it is insane!!  I just want to know if it is possible, how do one hack and slash out of those telekanisis and psionic attacks of the demons as well as Mellisan's unleash's unconsciousness effect.

And one other extra question.  Even though when I click the essence pool to gain immunity against all the vorpal/imprisonment and other frustrating effects(or at least the text says I do), in reality, I don't!  When mass of fallen solars summoned by mellisan come and hit me, I often had to click that reload button after seeing the vorpal effect.  Does anyone know if this is a bug or simply the matter of IEEP?
