Wow.  I think we have a winner, right there. :)

It's very odd that Balzathar has a hugs and kisses tattoo, though.  One would think they're be a bit more... mystical, or something.

Heh. That's what the tattoos really do look like on the blown up baby portrait. :)

That is a really nice portrait, cliffette. ;) I still cannot get myself past the naked Balthazar as I loathe his tattoos everytime I look at him. Damn you Sim for making me look at him so closely. :P

The only suggestion I could make concerning the tattoos is possibly to change then into Mah Jong characters e.g. the red dragon, as that'd be cooler and less like someone is playing noughts and crosses (tic-tac-toe) on his head. ;)

So then we yell "pung" whenever Balthazar shows up?

Pick your game, any game, though, that's still one sweet portrait. :)

Very nice. :)

Incidentally, my supervisor tells me that XO in Japanese sounds like a rude word.

If there are any budding artists out there, I pose a challenge to you:

Convert Balthazar's small ingame portrait into a large one that can be used in the epilogues. Currently, his epilogue uses a small portrait centred on a background of Amkethran, which clashes horribly with the other NPCs (and Bodhi, who has a decent full-size portrait).

I'm sure everyone'd be very appreciative if anyone was willing. Any takers? :)

My apologies... that was the best I could come up with before we released.

I didn't mean to say your version was bad, since it IS hard to enlarge the portrait-- I just thought it might be possible (and a fun exercise) to try improving on it, and I hope you like the result.

Sorry, missed this. In cliffette's post at the top of the page, there are three download links to BMP files. Save them all to the override folder, and it should work.

I do like it... very much.   In fact, I just found this thread yesterday and grabbed the new portrait to replace the released one:D   Thank you Cliffette for making that, and thanks to Sim for bringing this up.

Heh, well I suppose my Secret Gibberling Master does speak Japanese - but I was referring to my Master's degree project supervisor. ;)

well, if they have a moment to spare, and you have a spare moment to ask, i'm still inflamed [yeah, i know, i should get that looked at] with curiosity over what this supposed bad word is...

Any chance of this being incorporated into a future release of Ascension?
