Valen and gaze-effects, question?

As I understand it, Valen should be immune to normal charm and hold effects as a vampire.
with exceptions to the obvious 'hold undead' spells etc of course...

Just last night, Valen got stunned by the Master-of-Thralls' gaze attack in my game, and I just want to check whether that was supposed to be possible or not, given that maybe demon gaze-attacks are considered differently from normal hold spells.

this will sound like a stupid noob question, but I don't know if there's supposed to be a difference between hold and stun, so I just thought I might check here.

ahh, I think I figured it out, vampires are immune to hold, but not stun. I take there's the difference between hold and stun then. don't worry about this question then.
unless of course, if anyone can tell me that's not the answer...
