Item upgrades gives you need recipts to be used in SoA and ToB but also mods Carsomyr's MR so it can be stackable and changes some two other items normally attainable from a regular SoA or ToB game.

Wouldn't it be good if you can install them without adding the new items?

It would be cool if when you went to upgrade something at Cromwells, he said it would take a day and gave you a receit.  You could then return in a day, or longer for some harder to make items, and redeem your receit for the item you commisioned.

Personaly I don't like the idea of Carsomyr's MR being stackable. It has to have some draw back, and 50% is nothing to be laughed at. :)

Just a few thoughts.

It does seem weird that now he says "It'll take a day," but it actually takes no time at all.

I just assume its his hammer. Something that makes it a lot quicker than Taerum Fuirum of Beregost (in BG1) to make Ankheg Plate.

I believe the reason is that it would screw around with time-dependent quests like Nalia's Keep or Anomen's judgement.
