Yep, I know. I just hoped that marginal references to PS:T would be enough to allow some leeway on that. I think, we're way past that point, though.

Well, I was thinking more of plot items that are (literally) part of TNO, like your eyeballs (TNO has a eye inventory slot) and erm.. entrails that at one point may get moved outside your body stirring all sort of memories. ;)

And if I got it pieced together right it was not the first incarnation that was responsible of Deyanorra's(or Kivan's) death... ;)  That's actually what gripes me most of this project: you're willingly giving away the change to figure out the twists of the plot for the first time. Of course it's your choice, but forgive me if I can't get it. :)

Well, I'll see how it goes. If it's impossible, it's impossible. As for challenges... well, the way I look at it, is either I will play it spoiled, or will not play it at all - so I am looking for a different sort of a challenge. Modding shows you the way to destroy the sanctity of a published work - for good or for bad. For my restless and easily-bored character it's what makes crpg fun. I guess I spent too many years of my life in awe of the published word and authorities and doing things 'the right way'... I want more to depend on my personal preferences and desires wherever I can.

It's all my hubby's fault anyway, because he is using the computer which is capable of running NWN and IWD2. So, if I need diversion from BG1 (which despite all evidence to point otherwise, I do need), I am stuck with PST and BG2.  BG2 bores me to tears, and PST I can never manage to keep playing. So, PST finiking arpound it is :) Domi's logic...

I agree an the item usability. Some of them are vital in my view so I would not forego them.

Spoiler reasons D's death:















The practical incarnation needed her as an anchor to the Fortress of Regrets to be able to return there. You can admit that to her and she forgives you IIRC after you challenged and absorbed these incarnations. AFAIK the practical incarnation was not the first one to my knowledge.

What are you planning to do to all TNO specific items? (Assuming that character animation affects the equipped items inventory slots and not only to the weapons the character can use.)


I am not afraid to lose anything that I cannot use, to a degree. So far I could equip scalpel in the inventory slot on FFG. I'd think animation only goes so far as to show equipped item, not prevent you from using it. I may be mistaken....   For me being responcible for Kivan's murder will definetly emphasise what kind of a horrible, horrible person I used to be in that incarnation that wanted immortality  :-[

I found the story behind PST more compelling than the heavily flawed Bhaalspawn tale. Whatever I learned to love about BG and BG2, it has nothing to do with the more than suboptimal nudge-nudge linearity of SoA thinly veiled by a few sidequests that do not matter much. It is something entirely different that the continuos effort of the community to add new content and eradicate errors has kept this game playable over the years. I understand and value those who argue why they cannot enjoy PST. I loved it for the faustian pact and the fact that he is an ordinary guy who had an eternity to chase his mortality (A bit like Groundhog Day). I can't wait to play as a women/succubus/tiefling. Of course I expect to earn some coppers with my good looks and my erm singing.

OK, those are both fair. If a character doesn't *interest* you, then yeah, it's not really fair to expect you to play him/her as is.

I was probably just confused by the fact that two separate people (for, it turns out, two separate reasons) don't care for TNO. I was (mis)reading it as criticism of the design decision to have a definite character, rather than lack of enjoyment of the *particular* definite character. My mistake.

Well, you cannot force another person to enjoy the game, no more than you can force someone to fall in love. It's past logical experiences, it's emotional. Funnily, if the character is female and her mysterious past love is called Kivan, I do want to continue the game and I am ready to invest humangous amount of time and effort into setting the game up for playing it that way. See, I do not feel that I *have* to do it, but that I would *like* to do it.  In fact, even Morte's jokes become funny once he starts calling my PC princess and shamelssly sweet-talks her :)  *Shrug* call me shallow.

Agreed, but there's also the fact that big dumb guys that walk around in loincloths deserve to be shot.  ;)  Or, if you want an actual logical argument, maybe the most recent incarnation chooses to dress in appropriate clothes.  Image is always a big thing for me in the games I play.  Not sure why, but it is, and if it's in my power to change that when I want it changed, I'll do so.
