I've hit the same bug in v5 - Kimmuriel looping dialogue when he greets you. I narrowed it down to Jaheira being the cause. Is there any way around this that keeps Jaheira in the party? I don't want to destroy the romance with her by kicking her out.

Thank you Wisp.
I had no idea how complex this really was, I was just like a kid in a candy shop!
Done a bit more research and I'm going to do a new install, start from scratch, find the mods I like the look of and follow the steps from the BWP install pack.

Uninstalling Ascension and Ease-of-use might help. Perhaps not with your current problems, but they may be the cause of other problems. It sounds like you have been installing mods while continuing to use the saved games you had before installing. You should know that the engine mostly handles this very poorly and it is very possible to run into bugs because of it. Unless you know installing the mod won't cause any problems, you should not re-use old saves afterwards. There are also many other things off with your installation order, which may or may not be causing problems.

Honestly, chances are your saves are toast, as far as being bug-free goes. You may or may not be able to keep playing without running into additional problems, but you may want to consider cutting your losses, reinstalling your mods and starting a new game.

Installation orders is a complex subject. There are some rules of thumb you can apply, and you'll want to read the readme of each mod, as they frequently deal with mod compatibility (and by extension, installation order). Once you have started playing, you're well advised to make no more changes to your mod stack (at least not without starting a new game). One rule of thumb you can use is that fix mods(e.g., Fixpack) go first, content mods (e.g., NPCs and quests) go second and tweak mods go last. However, there are multiple exceptions (such as overwriting mods need to be installed first; e.g., Ascension before Fixpack). Additionally, which NPC needs to be installed before which quest or whether tweak mod A needs to be installed before other mod B varies from mod to mod.

You may also want to grab the latest versions of Kelsey (V3 or later) and Quest Pack. Quest Pack v3 is marked beta (and is available in the Quest Pack forums), but it is still very likely to be less buggy than Quest Pack v2.3 (which is what you are using now).

Sorry, like I said I'm new to mods, I just installed them as I came across ones I liked the look of, didn't know there was an order to adhere to as such?
If I just get rid of Ascension and Ease-of-Use will that help then? And how do I work out what mods go in what order?

Hey,
I think I won't be wrong if I say your installation order can be improved. Ease-of-Use mod, for example - you don't need it, all the components are included into BG2Tweaks already, you should install Edwina from BG2Tweaks instead, I think(if at all; I wouldn't risk it if it causes trouble). Ascension and Ease-of-Use mods overwrite files, anyway, so if you install Ascension, it should be installed first, even before BG2Fixpack(if you choose to install fixpack).

I think installing Ease-of-Use together with BG2Tweak and installing Ascension on top may have caused problems.  :)

Thank you for the report! Hmm, I think Edwin's interjection works as it does in every other mod(mine or not) that uses Edwin: if Edwin is in party and in the area and is available for a conversation, his main dialogue file, EdwinJ, is called. I suspect that some other mod(I looked at Female Edwina from BG2Tweaks, but it's probably not the one, because it doesn't change the dialogue file) changes his dialogue file and does not change it back. If you like, post your Weidu.log here, I'll have a look.

But I'm afraid the problem does not lie with Back to Brynnlaw/Sellswords/Xan/other mods that use Edwin interjections, that I can tell you for sure.

Also I had the same thing happen when trying to start the "Back to Brynnlaw" mod, couldnt get past the first few lines of dialogue and again Edwin was the culprit! For this one though you can replace him with any other NPC in the copper coronet, initiate the dialogue with Roslin, then put Edwin back in the party and continue the mod. You can also do something similar with Sellswords by way of killing Edwin, initiate dialogue with Kimmuriel, kill the trolls, raise Edwin and continue to Menzoberranzan! It seems to only affect the initial dialogue of both!? Will play each through and report if it hinders any further progress in either mod. Hope this helps.  :)

It was indeed 1 of the party members and not the most obvious. My party consists of Korgan, Haer'Dalis, Viconia, Edwin and Valen. It was Edwin! I have the Female Edwina mod and now believe that is the cause, ive currently got the glitch were his portrait doesnt change back to Edwin and the animations are off (Ie boots of speed no longer work), Ive Uninstalled it but no change? There is a fix for the mod but you need to be able to access the cluaconsole to do it. You'll have to forgive me, I'm new to this and because I installed the game to the Program files (x86) folder I cant use the cluaconsole. If I copy all the game files to another folder and delete the original could I get round it that way? I'm wary of losing any saved games etc And as desperate as I am to play this mod, I don't want to travel to Menzoberranzan without my trusty, albeit transgender mage with me!  ;)

- which party members do you have?
- can you CTRL-Y(kill) all your party members or try this conversation with you alone in the party(just for testing) - does it work?

That's me helping. :) I feel like one of the party interjections has gone wrong, but I can't imagine why, since the code is supposed to be solid. (if it's indeed a party member at fault, just kill him/her for the duration of the conversation and let me know so I could examine the code/possible mod conflicts more closely).
