Personally I would recommend thinking about crossmod content, at least with the mods here at pocketplane (esp. Xan / Kelsey / the nalia romance). If there's no crossmod at all you're basically forcing the player to have only one mod NPC installed, yours (it doesn't make sense otherwise).

As for writing content for npcs that you didn't create.. well that's a gray area. Personally I think once someone puts something out there on the internet they lose a certain degree of control over it, especially if it's for free, and even more so if they later disappear without a trace, like some modders. IMO good mod NPCs with missing authors may as well be considered Bioware NPCs. I doubt the authors would take offense to any new content, especially if they're MIA. Besides, even if they did return and object, one could always remove said content. Building on other people's work is the basis of modding. I dare someone to break this silly tradition of not modding mods.  :P

It isn't planned, as such, but I'd certainly be happy to include crossmod content if there are any NPC authors out there interested in working with me. I'm not going to do it without the input of the creators, though, since it'd be pretty rude and pretentious of me to go writing dialogue for other people's characters.

Official Bioware NPCs notwithstanding, of course. We all know they were designed by robots.

Any interaction with mod npcs planned?

I just added a brief summary of his personality to the biography thread, so feel free to take a look and comment however you see fit.

I like the sound of expanding the Jaheira-mages, and taking advantage of the taint. What's he like personality-wise?

I realise that nobody has actually asked any questions yet, but this is a nice, easily-read way of consolidating miscellaneous information. Of course, you should feel free to ask if you actually do have a question that I didn't answer pre-emptively.

Q. What will the Zathali NPC mod include?
A. - Zathali comes with his own side-quests, and may also be able to provide you with an alternative method of solving a few already existing quests thanks to his unique abilities.

- Zathali offers you the chance to truly take advantage of the darkness within you, teaching you to develop and control it…though there will often be a price to pay.

- Dig up more information on the mysterious “mages in green and black” who curse Jaheira. What is Zathali’s connection to them?

- A wide variety of banters and interjections, naturally.

- Player-initiated dialogues that will allow you to delve deep into Zathali’s dark past and discover exactly why he is the way he is.

- Zathali is still being hunted by worshippers of Loviatar. You’re probably going to have to do something about that.

Q. Is there a romance track?
A. Absolutely not.

Q. Will there be a Bodhi abduction?
A.Yes. I decided to go against convention and have Bodhi abduct an NPC that hasn’t had any involvement with what’s inside your character’s pants. Just for a change.

But seriously, no.

Q. Will he be voiced?
A. Yes. Voicing for Zathali will be provided by yours truly. (Get a sample of what you’re letting your ears in for here; please excuse the poor quality.)

Q. Throne of Bhaal content?
A. Yes, all being well.

Q. Will Zathali fight with any other NPCs?
A. Just Keldorn. For now.
