Well, _that'd_ ruin the story even further. "Back to Easthaven" part of the story is heroic finale, the final pages of the story. How would it look if you abandon the heroic finale, put the book away and spend two months in another part of the world, chasing orcs?

You can as well return to Kuldahar right before the final battle in Lower Dorn's Deep, complete HoW and then return, beat the villain and go to Easthaven - no problem.

I think your confusing Hjolldir and Hrothgar. Hjolldir teleports you to the expansion. Hrothgar dies.  ;)

That would ruin the story in my eyes: his death is a major turning point for the story. First, the group is "covered" - they are a part of an expedition, they have a leader, an authority figure who knows where to go and what to do - and then they are all alone in the snow. It works as it is.

Perhaps a mod can be made where Hjolldir (sp?) can meet you back in Easthaven in Chapter 6?

Oh of course not, but the sweet irony of striking her down twice with the same sword...

And she actually acknowledges it, which I thought was well done on behalf of the development team.

Honestly, you don't need the upgraded sword. If you have the extra XP from doing HoW and ToLM before meeting Behlifet, that last battle is rather embarrassingly easy...

Hmm... Okay.

(And I was really hoping to get that sword first.)

It would, of course. It would work either way.

The thing is, IWD NPC is written so that it gives a strong sense of closure after the end of the main storyline. So you may not feel as good playing HoW separately. Besides, if you have a romance partner, it may look strange: your relationship slowly evolves during the course of IWD; then you start HoW, and it's "just friends again". I'd recommend going to HoW(and TotL, if you have it) after chapter 4, or even after chapter 5.

I read in one of the other thread the suggestion to do HoW immediately after Chapter 3 or Chapter 4. I tried after 3 and our dear friend suggested I gain some more experience. I just finished Dorn's Deep and I'm finally good enough but I was wondering. Would it work to finish IWD and then import the whole party into an Expansion only game? (Barring of course game difficulty, which I'd need to raise.)
