In the Cleric's override file,
IF
whatever
THEN
RESPONSE #100
TakePartyItem("body")
DestroyItem("body")
CreateCreatureObject("monteron", "XzarsCleric", 0, 0,0)
END

I like it though.
"Jaheira- You are amusing, in a "what the hell is wrong with you" kind of way."
Has to be the greatest line in the BG series.

And, because I am incapable of keeping my mouth shut.
Who cares? I play TDD even though I think it's mostly crap.
Anything that adds new stuff to the game, I install at least once (yes, that does mean that I have played most mods...) I may never play TDD again, but it's fun for the moment.
TDD's "worth" is irrelevant.
When it was made is irrelevant.
Who made it is irrelevant.
What tools were used is irrelevant.
Just play the damn game.
See, it's called a "game". Not self-imposed torture. You hate it, don't play it, you love it, play it. But don't think anyone else cares.

Is there anyone I have yet to offend?

Heres draft idea!

I'm no sure how close my idea is to TDD version, since i haven't tried out the mod.

Vasculio's Montaron & Xzar Mod "I can't say that it will happen, but i'd like to give it a try and experiment with it".

DRAFT 1

1. After the harper kills Xzar"clone" revisit the lab

2. You'll see Xzar"Real" there with his original BG1 look and a evil zhentarim cleric.

3. He'll chat with the pc for a bit about the clone and Montaron's disappearance. Then he'll request that you continue the search for Montaron.

4. Bring back the body to Xzar. Xzar will inform you to hand it over to his cleric, the cleric will take the item and spawn Montaron.

5. The cleric will inform Xzar that he'll report back to there superiors and inform them of what transpired here.

6. Xzar & Montaron offers to join the PC for the time being.

For Banters, i was thinking of recycling the banters style of BG1 between npcs that consist of comments and insults.

Example:

Jaheira- You are amusing, in a "what the hell is wrong with you" kind of way.
Montaron- Ye live longer if ye don't annoy me. Mayhaps even a week or more.

This just a quick summary, even though my brain gonna hurt thing up the dialog. ahhh!

Montaron couldve been easy script back if weren't for his corpes. I'd like to think that people would leave his corpes behind.

Now i'm going to ask the questions

1. How do a script a npc to spawn a npc?
2. How do i get a npc to take a item from the player?

Overall what do you think?

MajorTomSawyer, yours is an even better post. It's a pity that the Voice of Reason always arrives too late to avoid injured feelings.

Hope a new gamer hasn't been chased off because of the bad blood that still exist among communities. It's funny, TeamBG was accussed the exact same behavior, back in its day.

With this attitude: "do it for me or i'll be pissed!" you won't get any support at all.
I do understand somehow (not approve though) practice of perverting opponent's words in a course of argue, but I'm really surprised to see that you're resorting to it too, albeit I wasn't arguing with you at all. Could it be that it's really something like "do it for me" that all of you find in my words? Well, I'll try to clarify it one last time: Why do you ever think that I was looking fore some support for anything? I was just tossing an idea in hopes that someone might fancy it, in no way suggesting that someone had to do it or I'll show you all. Perhaps it's my faulty english to blame, but I still did see no semantic difference between "May be it's time to made XYZ" & "I'd like to see / I think it'd be cool if XY was made".

Well, i think, i sensed your attitude correctly. You just want to play, and while pushing it, you get more and more pissed :) And, well, I would like to play too, but there are few mods outta there that really add new content without forcing me to replay the same old game.

Why don't you try glory of istar (dragonlancetc.com), you can call it TDD revisited if you wish, Max from the old TDD team was its project leader :)
But lets leave TDD alone, it is truly a good mod from a technical sense and its goal is also admirable, but the content is so outdated and the quests themselves are not so terribly worthy either. There won't be anyone who would work on TDD.
A new TC (or finishing DLTC) would be much better, and before mr Bigg says i'm whining, i can state that i'll work on it :P

Be nice, people.  :-*

Good post.

The only thing I will say is any requests to change/improve/expand TDD should be done at SHS on the Big Picture forums.

Mention it or TDD here, and it becomes a contest who can say "OMG!11!! TD, SOS, TS, CTB, DA DSOTC, 3TC...1!!!1!!!!!1111 WTF LOL SUK BALS" in the cruelest way and attack anyone who sees merit in those mods.

I won't bother mentioing how those mods paved the way for the current mods. I think Avenger summed it all up nicely.

On the other side, I would prefer diffrent mods that I have not played previously to re-hashing the old.

Still, there are many who have not played them who might actually (shocker) enjoy them!?!

I can see the arguement how old "buggy" mods might discourage a new to modded games player from playing any other mods.

On the other side of that, it is not like we earn commision when people download/play our mods.

Besides, I can name very few mods (even ones by me, and by the ones who attack the big mods) that were 100% bug free in their initial release. Sure, some cats have pulled that off, but it doesn't happen every time.

Bugs happen.

Players get discouraged and quit playing the game that does not make us a penny.

New faces/names are nice, they tend to (sometimes) not argue about the same thing over and over again.

I have just never understood the point in attacking something someone might enjoy in hopes they will no longer enjoy it. Might be better to offer to help when asked, and maybe reccomend other mods they might also enjoy. Who knows? A little kindess goes a long way. If Hlid and SConrad had not been so nice to me and helped, I would have never made mods. Sure, mine are crap by the modding standards, but at least it is something new and another face is working on things.

Guess this all explains why Andyr is respected by every modding community, and most of us fall between tolerated and hated in diffrent communities.

I truly doubt anyone has ever made a single mod without asking for help/advice.

Would all of us still be around if we were all treated like this by everyone?

OK, I'm usually trying hard to hold myself out of personal attacks in public places, but finding myself at the brink of breaking my self-imposed rule I believe it's time for me to cut out of here. Battlefield is yours, gentlemen, enjoy.

Second: I'm a gamer, not modder. If at any moment I'll prefer modding BG over playing BG, I'll learn it.

Oops, that's a problem. As i previously mentioned TDD has more value for a modder (though sadly these spoiled youngsters don't appreciate it) than to a gamer.

"It's about time somebody made XYZ" is considered whining, "I'd like to see / I think it'd be cool if XY was made" is considered suggesting.

"TDD is crap" arguments are usually more constructive than "It's about time somebody made a good TDD", since the former may lead to the initial talkee to reconsider his steps, while the latter will lead to nothing since those who like TDD are already busy giving install advice to newbies, and those who don't like TDD will not spend time making it better.

Further, if this is whining in your opinion, I fail to see what would you call suggestion.

First: It would be greatly appreciated if you be so kind as to show me where exactly I was either crying, whining or begging
Instead of beating the air over and over again may be it's time to make something like "TDD Re-revisited"? ;D Improve old dialogues, add a handful of small to tiny subquests and some minor encounters to enliven new cities... this kind of things ::)

If you love TDD so much why don't you marry it? uh I mean build your own fixes, instead of crying and whine about it? Give it a try, everyone wins in the end -- you realize it's crap (the more likely case), or TDD gets better. Don't expect too many modders to help though.

Here is an advice: Do it yourself and learn how to mod. Modders do not take whiners and beggers seriously.

I've expressed my opinion, elaborated it since my opponents pretends that they didn't understand it, and finally added some constructive idea in an attempt to make some positive use of othervice useless argument. You really do see here some whining? *shrugs*

Of course I would prefer all-new city filled with life, quests and stories, but this is not the option :( and recicled city is still better than no city at all :P
