I know in BG1, the 'dplayer' scripts don't work unless the party AI is turned on. This doesn't seem to be the case in BG2 and I'm assuming IWD2, but thought I should mention it.  (For the BG1 thing, I put the workaround in the chr overrid scripts.)

That sounds like a good idea. It can be useful to force the occasional Biolines that don't come out right as well.

We can change dplayer.bcs (or whatever it is that all npcs get upon joining in IWD2) so that if you press a certain hotkey that NPC initiates dialogue with you. In my mind this ranks high on the simple-work-around list.
