I designed a custom katana and added an effect to the melee ability so it deals  20 points of damage (magical cold) to the target
The funky thing is, when I tested it, ennemies getting damaged to death by the cold continued standing, their status was dead, and they were colored in blue like ice statues.
Is this a regular engine effect like the icy death in DiabloII or did I do something strange?

By the way, is there a way to attach a file to the messages on this forum?

It's normal.  Shows up a lot if you use Cone of Cold, I'm told.

Are you sure Rathwellin?
It seems I get items normally.

I have had this 'item loss' too - you have no idea how frustrating it is to ice the Chromatic Demon with Cone of Cold and then find out that your Circlet of Netheril is gone.

Chunky death results in item poof.

Frozen/Stoning/Level Drain I believe can create chunky death (gore off might help, I don't know).  Could be a few other death sequences that trigger it too.

A standard chunky death, which is caused by reducing an opponent to -10 hit points, won't destroy any items.  Only petrification, freezing, disintegrate or level drain will.

To turn on Gore, go into Options: Graphics, and Gore will be an option there.

I'm searching for a 3-d effect for a gust of wind.
I'd like to get that effect that plays when people are unstonned, or creatures appear, or such (some wind swirling around the target for a second)
Can someone tell me which effect it is or how to visualize those?
