And quite a tip of the hat it was, 30-odd posts by the people who actually run the place accusing me of rigging it.
Rigging it how, JC? Preferring certain people over others? IIRC, you advertised IM3 in several places and personally sent offers to people (*coughWeimercough*) inviting them to participate. Just because most of the 8 entries came from people at PPG doesn't mean the contest is rigged. It means other people were lazy. If NotMrT and other people wanted to squawk about how unfair it was, they should have written a mod and submitted it themselves. THEN they'd have the right to complain.
(Hey, if I can make a store and storekeeper in four hours,
anyone can do it. Trust me on this one.
)
Rigging a contest that has no price money? What's the point? I am at a loss here.
Honor and glory...and a pirate-themed avatar, it seems. (The Pancake Pirate
will live on in memory...as soon as I fix this item to work properly, that is...)
I'm accepting suggestions. Especially given the rather unusual outcome of the contest I'm tempted to schedule the next one relatively soon... say, mid/late July. But it's important to know how much time contestants feel they need to recharge, and for those who missed this one or haven't yet participated, what would suit them best.
I say the last weekend in July, and announce it well in advance. The more juvenile among us (me! *raises hand high*) can post on FWMC and say that IM4 is on such-and-such date and on such-and-such time, and participation is encouraged to ensure Chairman Kaga isn't rigging the contest against those who do not participate.
And well done Pirengle, for becoming a m0ddar!
Thank you, my sous-chef, for writing my .tp2 file and putting up with my whining when Bons went off to write her own entry and JC ran off to do his official things. Without your assistance, I never would have finished.
I'm still a little twerked at the way things turned out. Someone explained it to me that what I did wasn't really a mod and I was stacked against other well-known and well-experienced folks, and that's why I didn't score so high. But hearing the Chairman himself say that what I had done was more of a demo or experiment or a quasi-mod than a real entry, that made me sad. Hey folks: first time. EVAR.
Maybe there can be some sort of Training Day competition for people who have never modded before and want to learn how. All the newbies cling to famous modmakers (like how I borrowed Andyr's help) and make something centered around a basic theme, maybe one of Weimer's one-word suggestions. Fun for the whole community.
of course, it does mean pirengle no longer has a soul
Nope. I'm thinking about taking my new-found prowess and asking for a forum at FWMC. I have a nice project in mind: a sex-starved female NE assassin. I figure somebody else will handle all the technical stuff while I have room to do what I want: lord over others in my own private forum.
