*Sighs* too bad that bags with millions of dolars just do not have a habit of placing themselves at JC's driveway.  :)

Yeah, but if I was dreaming, they'd be in my house and not JC's driveway. :p

Ai, but that's evil...it appears once people come into that sort of money all they end up doing is making more money...till they drop dead.

Money is the root of all lemon cakes, or lemon cakes are the root of all evil?

Women = Time x Money

Time = Money

So, Women = (Money)^2

Money = sqrt(All Evil)

Therefore, Women = Evil

You've probably all seen that before. :)

I'm sure people have pointed this out many times, but ah well...

Would you really like to wake up thinking, "Oh, great! I get to do something wonderfully hard, and unpaid!"

Think of it this way, you are forced to mow your lawn. You may like to mow your lawn... the mesmerizing noises... the smell of the freshly cut grass...

*ahem*

But you would't do it without being paid would you?

So unless anyone is willing to shell out a few hundred grand, I think that little niche will remain unfilled for quite some time.

I think he means it's okay to mow your lawn in your spare time, since you like it, but if you had to give up your job to mow five football fields, you'd starve to death and things in general would suck.

But if you got to be paid for mowing those football fields, life would be a grand and glorious song.

As long as you are getting alot of money for mowing those football fields. If not, THEN you would starve and things in general would suck. :-\

Sure but you're starting at the wrong place.  Work up a game proposal, then see if you can pitch that to get license rights for a semi-viable game engine, plus the tools to make it work.  Then you come back here, put up a Help Wanted notice and see how it goes.

   Why would you work up a game proposal first, if its impossible to do? Better to ask knowledgeable people if the idea is feasible. Better to ask knowledgible people if there is a game engine that would be viable.

   Everybody has said it is not feasible.

  I don't even know why I am arguing with you guys.  :) Once again, I actually believe you when you say its impossible.

  Modified stupid arguments on my part.

What about Mount&Blade - http://www.taleworlds.com/ ??? It may just get to the end, and if so it negates everything said in this thread. (exept the size of the team - it's done by 2 people or so it seems)
Also Fate - not so ambitious, quite the opposite but it's a start, most of it is done by 1 person.
Looking farther into past - Worms 1. Also done by 1 person, almost no costs, great success. Do something like that, then go serious.

So, I don't think it's that impossible. Probably people would have to imagine that that great RPG game will be their 3rd one, the 1st has to be much smaller, but it could happen.

        Now that I am over my initial excitement.  When is the release date?  Or if there is no release date yet how about some details or are you in the pre-pre-production phase?

Release dates are pretty much pointless.  They're almost always mere guesswork, usually not even educated guesswork. 90% of the time release dates aren't met, even by fully staffed, professional companies who've been making games for many years.  In other words, unless the game is already complete or nearing completion, the only accurate release date anyone could give for their game would be "when it's done", or possibly "within a few years".
