This spell is great, but beyond the reach of CRPGs. :(

Just because you can't cast it in-game doesn't mean you can't tell your lover you're going to cast it in the future in-game ;).

(Cybersquirt: I can't believe I did that (got in your post).. need more caffiene or less power  ;D)

True, and it is a cool spell - the tree-hugger in me rejoices ;)  but I wonder if this one sh/could be addressed more generically.

(THAT is what I meant to do  ::))

Well to the opinion why a druid shouldent(maby i missunderstood now) Shouldent be abel to extend there life spam

Since a druid dont use Mother natures Powers for there own winning(Lets ignor the shadow druids around tradeemet for now)
they cant extend there life spam since its the nature/the gods that decides how long a person lives(Not sure if i am right or not)

Since elves are connected to the tree of life they live longer
Since orcs/half-orcs have a tendansy to have many internal fights they dont live long.
Humans have only a connection to magic that can sustain them(Look at ellminister a red cloaked mage that you encounter from time to time)

Although I respect your oppinion, if it's in the rules, there's probably at least a moderately good reason for it, and it's more a question of should we use it in the game or not?

It's more a question of them becoming further in tune with nature - which is eternal (well, until the end of the world at least) after all - as they grow in power.

With proper planehopping, nature could be eternal

Just a question: How long was Mystra alive before Torm (or Helm, I forget) sent his fist through her chest and made that Ariel Manx(spelling?) the new Mystra?

It was Helm...........though I not sure for how long this Mystra lived...
I guess she came into power when Mystryl (the first Mystra) died saving the Weave from the Netherese archwizard Karsus to right up till the Time of Troubles

how would a druid expand (extend?) their lifespan?  Seems only a necro, on the mage side, could.

Does the Druid Sleep from Shannara carry over at all into AD&D?

question about the tree thing:
if the tree makes an acorn while the druid is alive or linked, or during the one year transformation period to a treant, what happens to the acorn if you plant it?
and how did this go from talking about half elf romances to wondering about the shanara series?

Remember that elves and other long lived races are not immortal.  There is no guarantee that they will outlive their human lover, only the potential to do so.

Yeah, I only go out with chicks that are likely to die within six months of me due to a car-crash, gas leak, or being eaten by ogres.

Makes me feel better knowing they won't mope around for ages after I die, and vice versa.

What I meant was that it seems pointless to fret about it as if you know for a fact that one of you will outlive the other.

Hideous and tragic deaths in close sequence?  Or the expectation that one will die long before the other?

It bother any one else that of the healers available there are:

1) A really, really whiny elf.
2) A bossy lady that's almost as annoying as #1.  And a druid.  And multiclassed.
3) An evil dark elf.
4) One of the three most hatable characters of all time (after the guy from Othello, and Drizzt)
5) A guy who can't wear armor and turns into a werewolf... Bah, I don't trust druids as main healers, that's why he sucks :P.

And no one ever mods a cleric.  They're every class but. Well, alright, I haven't seen beastmaster or a wild mage yet, but I'm sure the wild mage is out there some where and no one plays beastmasters anyways.

I usually use shadowkeeper to turn some one into a cleric at my whim.  Mazzy gets to be a cleric a lot, it seems :P.

Now, to topic:

Druids supposedly don't age after a certain level (Heirophants).
Necromancers turn themselves into liches more often than extending their life time; other wizards tend to extend life time unless they're evil (lich again).
Yay for rehash.

Those lines of 'it's better to loved and lost than to never have loved at all' tend to come about a lot when dealing with elf / human relationships.  And actually, they tend to be pretty rare roleplay-wise.  How many half elves do you meet in a game?  How many of those are rape children?  I think 90% of the half elves out there are player created (if you include PnP).

I too noticed those facts, but I didn't find Jaheira to be too bad personality wise; not anywhere near as bad as Aeirie or Anowenie...  Seriously, though it did strike me that all three female romanceable NPCs had elf blood and therefor would likely (in the case of Viconia DEFINITELY) outlive their partner...  I don't know very much about elf cutlure, but do they have some kind of general rule about relationships with other races?  In other fiction that deals with long life, there is generally such a prohibition...  For Example the Immortals in the Highlander movies were always cautioned against romances with mortals; Heinlein's Howard Family Long-lifers were advised to steer clear of "ephemerals" (Although that never stopped Lazarus Long!), and so forth in lots of other fiction...

And what's up with the fact that, save Viconia, all the women in the game wear crap in their hair?  I HATE that!

Why is cleric least appealing of PC classes?  Is it the number in the game?

Least appealing? I usually play cleric PC's. They're not that much weaker than fighters, can use heavy armor, shields, powerful weapons (Crom Feyr, Flail of Ages, etc), cast many supportive/healing/damage spells. Seeing that the game lacks non-romanceable clerics and has quite a number of fighters already, I welcome a cleric PC. (Or a thief PC, but I hardly play thief protagonists)

Funny, I've just been playing a thief...  There's no good thieves in the game, really.  Nalia's theif abilities are token, really, Imoen's aren't that better when you get to the high-level traps and stuff; everybody knows what happens to Yoshimo; and Jan isn't very appealing; he's hopeless in Melee combat, can't carry shit, and can be damn annoying.  Besides, as a thief PC, you get "use any item", which, combined with my swashbuckler's AC boost, has given me a -22 AC at this point in the game!

of course Jan can't fight. He's a mage. :P

He can cast spells nicely. And is very silly :)

For some reason, I don't feel comfortable playing as a thief. I've never experienced any trouble with Imoen and high-level traps/locks. Nalia's thief skills get a nice boost if you install the NPC Kits from G3 and add an Adventurer Kit to Nalia. I rarely take Jan.

This would make the PC and Imeon the first kids-of-a-god in DnD history to not have extra-long lifespans?
