Ghareth V0.91 released
« on: April 25, 2004, 01:20:56 AM »
Finally got around to fixing the Madeen dialogue bug where Ghareth would leave the party and vanish. Sorry about that, those of you who have been bitten.

Means that there's no One-Day NPC out there in an actual "one-day" form, but I think we've all done pretty good work in the time allotted.

Just curious, but are you ever going to make Ghareth a higher level?

Why?  That's one of the key points of the character.

I think the first workable release should be dealt with as One-day. Fixing bugs afterwards is very desirable and should not forfeit the title.

Well, part of modding is accuracy. I'm proud to have made an NPC that almost worked properly in a day, but if it didn't, it didn't. :)

Did you fix the "I was doing drill with..." in his How Did You Become a CW dialogue?  I'm all for people taking more than one day to fix bugs/dialogue issues & still retaining the One Day status.  Most if not all of the One Day'ers would benefit from some serious proof-reading (Ghareth's is inconsequential by comparison) & I'd think they'd be vastly improved but still retain their One Day-ness.

I'd also be in favor of you taking More Than One Day & expanding his dialogues to make him more interesting - that'd be worth losing the One Day status, IMO (a Really Good NPC is much more desirable than a Really Fast NPC).

Oh dear. That sounds vaguely familiar but I can't say I remember what it was anymore. Um, what was it?

Well, sure, but the bitch of it is that I've already got a lot of ideas suffering neglect in the "Really Good" (or at least, "Going To Require A Lot Of Time") category.

Will there be any more Ghareth updates?  I know he's a one-day NPC and all but I was wondering if there was any plans of going back and getting the typos or changing his avatar to a human mage?  He's got the fighter avatar so when we puts on a cloak it still looks like he is wearing a mini-skirt on screen.

Well, if he was wearing the 'Sun-dress of the Arch-Magi' I could probably see my way past it.  I was just suggesting to have the clothes match the man.

G3Tweaks has a Morphing Script component. You can choose which avatar Ghareth uses.

The fighter avatar is a feature, not a bug, intended to reflect that he's built more like a fighter than a mage.

As to the broader question, I can't see updating Ghareth any time soon.
