"Dreams" Be Gone
« on: April 15, 2004, 09:43:51 AM »
I really think it was a stroke of geniuos to create Dungeon be gone and I personally would like to see a Dreams be gone mod.  You know, those annoying, Irenicous dreams that pop up every other time you rest and slow your game down.  Is it possible to create such a mod?

careful though.. it messes with some mods (Imoen, for one) and those rest/wake banters and flirts get weird.

One thing I learned is ALWAYS have the movies (sleep) play untill they end themselfs. That way, you avoid variables not being set. If you clicked through the movie then yeah, you'll most likely screw certain things up.

Lo,
Just stumbled on this thread. While EoU may be what you want, you may also want to try GbG, as it does something similar.

Ease of Use "Shorter Cutscenes" does make the dream sequences fairly short...but i don't know if anyone else got this but for my game i got some sort of weird cutscenes instead......sometimes you just hear Irenicus speech with some scenes that don't seem to make sense.......but it didn't really bothered me as it didn't seem to affect my game and i already knew what the dreams meant/were for....and i was also playing around with several mods at the time....i'll stop rumbling now... :)

Irenicus asking Imoen to sign his shirt.
Priceless.

But modding all this dreams away makes you lose a massive piece of the storyline.
I only used it once because of the story.
On the other hand, if you've seen them for the ...th time, it does make sense.

I generally use them when testing stuff in a quasi-realistic-playing-style situation.  i.e. I don't want to just warp to whatever specific area needs testing, but I whip through the game with a godlike killsw01 wielding colossus of destruction.  For this purpose, I rather wish they were shorter.

OK, but that has nothing to do with the playing of the game.
When skipping the dreams it f*cks up the story line.

You mean there were bugs that caused things to not trigger properly, or you just don't get all the information you need?  It's assumed that veteran players already know what they need to know, so that's the whole point of the component.

After all the time playing it I hate the dreams as much as my opponents. :) Getting the option to skip them was a relief.

Only 'you must savour your pastries before the chicken gives birth' is worse than the OMG dream sequences.

I imagine you click once or twice, and then the epilogues/end movies start.  It's just a joke, Kish. :)

Some extracts from the readme:
Quote
Game-Be-Gone is the ultimate time saving mod, rapidly immersing you (the player) into the Baldurs Gate II world and story. The feeling of repetition that sometimes exists in the game is removed, as are the dull fetch and carry quests. In their place is a compelling, expanded storyline, exploring the quandries of the choice between godhood and mortality. Your choices directly and immediately affect the game. The mod changes integrate seamlessly, and are almost indistinguishable from the original Bioware content.

And some user quotes:
Quote
"Igi has taken his work on IESDP and used it to streamline the game. I've never seen it run faster." - hlidskialf

Quote
<Neil> hmm "GREAT MOD IT REALLY ROCKS....What did it do again?"
(Neil is speaking of the fact that the mod integrates seamlessly into the existing game content)

Quote
"It's plain to see, Igi has worked his arse off on his mod... it's excellent, and hope more mods are coming in the future" - DeanoTeamBG
