Bugs
« on: December 08, 2019, 03:10:00 AM »
Bugs and notes:

1) Ice Island Level Two Restoration. I played this component in Baldur’s gate EE.
Bug1: the component has graphical glitches (lines)
Bug2: the ice golems escorting the “boss” are named “Placeholder”
Photo: https://ibb.co/6B6pJ5q

2) Quoningar the cleric. In Bg classical he has tiax soundset (didn’t check if it’s the same for EE). Maybe it’s not a bug but I found it odd.
For some strange reason, in baldur’s gate classic there is a text error:
assitance should be assistance,
but this text error is not there in BG:EE

3) Finishable Kagain Caravan quest: this component didn’t work properly in my Baldur’s gate original version install. Bug was also reported here: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,29797.0.html

4) Another bug I witnessed was a crash whenever I installed some components. See here: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,29696.0.html

5) There are many restorations components available. It would be cool if
a) the player could know which of these restorations were added to EE
b) the player could know if the restorations in EE were integrated as they are in UB (if they were integrated at all)?
c) for now it seems that only Area corrections and restoration were integrated. Am I wrong?

6) "Additional elminster encounter" is already integrated in BGT: this means that if you use BGT, the component should be skipped. See here: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/60544-v121-bugs-issues-solutions-and-suggestions/?p=608175

7) Chapter 6 dialogue enhancement is bugged. For anyone wondering, the guard in the sixth floor, rather than greeting you, will continuosly spam on you a dialogue box.
The issue was already mentioned here: https://github.com/AstroBryGuy/bg1ub/issues/9

Note: some of the reports above were made using version 14 of Unfinished Bussiness. This is due to the fact that the website (http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=161&Itemid=114) makes you download version 14, while here in the forum version 16 was already published.

It would be useful to know if those bugs reports are still valid for the new version though.

Unfortunately the maintainer, AstroBryGuy has been inactive for over one year and nobody knows whether he's returning to the modding scene.

This refers to a problem with SoD from Gog and Steam if the DLC Merger is not installed first. What are you expecting we do about it? I can add the check but as I pointed out in the thread, it does not work for Windows because of restrictions we cannot change.

Which bug report do you man? AstroBryGuy posted how the bg1ub component is supposed to work (body of child, Kargain has to be near to trigger dialogue). The expected behavior of the original report was bg1npc content. What exactly did not work for you in the bg1ub component?

As far as I can see, the soundset is changed for v16 (unless Tiax uses a generic gnome sound in BG classic). The spelling error is in the original game text which are used for this component for classic BG1.

Fixed locally by spawning a custom Watch.

Seems no longer to be an issue in v16.

Can a warning be added while installing it? I mean on the text of the component - like "Warning: you need Dlc merger installed if you plan to use this component"

Tried it again and could not replicate. Component is currently fine.

I don't see how - other than to add it to the mod title. Then every mod would be named "Mod XYZ - you need DLC Merge before installing it to SoD from GOG or Steam" - sorry, but that is what the readme is for.

As I said - the warning doesn't work on Windows for reasons I don't really know (something about maximum size of the file in question). The warning should work fine on Linux and OSX.

I rephrase. The crashing issue happened only when installing some components. My idea was to add a warning to the component text, not the whole mod.

But really, this is not even a very poignant issue because you absolutely need to install modmerger before modding EE, otherwise you will meet problems in the way. So this problem is fixed, as you say, by a warning in the readme.
