Do you have the game in a case-insensitive file system or with some other work-around? WeiDU currently has a case-incompatibility with EE-type games on Linux. Are you running this from the directory that contains the file "chitin.key" and the directory "lang"? If so, can you post an ls of your lang directory?

Thank you immensely Planewalker,
I've been circling the answer to this problem for most of three months and your response had me doing the right step in the right order at the right time.
Firstly, I moved from the main installation directory to the main/game/directory. Then I the modlink.sh and the planets aligned giving me a working game ;)
So, if anyone else should have a similar problem:-
                                                                     - Download modlink.sh from https://mega.nz/#!Hst1kZ6Z!gVCwIoXU6THZu-l4jnWqhIUc0kXe1CzQ5iMkaw2t69s
                                                                     - Extract it and mod to the game directory
                                                                     - Copy the mod setup .tp2 file to the game directory
                                                                     - Run sh ./modlink.sh in the game directory
                                                                     - Make sure weinstall is in a $PATH directory
                                                                     - Run weinstall setup-mod.tp2
This is what worked for me, I hope it helps others.
